Either culled, or used to find how deep a place is. or ratter busher.

There is always a good chance that if its failed, then it might start up again, and go to ground.

Depends upon failed as well, it might still do a few hours, while you wait and walk about looking for it. :(

If its been bred to work below, and its failed, then it MIGHT still be in the dog to see whats happening below next time(like a spark relighting). After all if its failed, it has still been bred to dig, not bred to bush/rat.

Hope this helps.

PROBABLY BEST TO GET A PUP AND START FROM SCRATCH, THEN YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT HE'S TRAINED TO DO BECAUSE YOU TRAINED HIM, RATHER THAN GUESSING OR HOPING WITH A DOG SOMEONE ELSE TRAINED.

Makes sense mate yea , better to look for summit not bred for earth then , suppose with all terriers there is the likely hood they may go to ground but suppose if they have never been encouraged to as a pup stand a better chance

PROB FOR THE BEST. THERE'S ALWAYS THE CHANCE HE'LL DISSAPPEAR DOWN A HOLE IF HE'S A TERRIER, AT LEAST YOU KNOW HOW LIKELY HE IS TO DO IT IF HE'S YOURS SINCE A PUP.

WHERABOUTS IN WALES ARE YOU MATE? I GREW UP IN CWMBRAN/PPOOL/NPORT AREA.

Weather its bred from the best lines in the world or mrs Scotts wee cairn theres always a chance a terrier will go to ground, if its a failed earthdog you could easily bush with it its natural for most terriers as long as it's controllable and not a dog thats been kept in the kennel and expected to teach its self discipline then it would probably donthe job you want mate.

P.s never heard of a failed dog being used o check how deep an earth is.....
