Jamie m 668
revelation ive had about working ferrets because of what you guys have said about the ferret lady stretching the truth, how do i know that the working parents arent bloody useless but the owner tried once and wants to make a bit of pocket money by selling kits? popnoodle 4
went for a drive round various ferret places, first of all rspca f***ing shocking never going to bother with them again. after filling out loads of paperwork and pretty much promising to adopt something i was allowed to look at 1 of 6 ferrets they have there, the woman didnt want to know anyway but when i said i wanted to work them i was the worst person in the world and she locked the ferret away and waited for me to leave... went to a rescue place in ammanford which was alot better but didnt have the colourings we wanted so agreed to probably go back in a month to look at newbies. then went to a breeder in bridgend and my girlfriend was brooding so much over the kits im surprised she wasnt firing babies across the garden so the plan is to get a polecat hob and albino jill on the 26th or there abouts when theyre ready for rehoming the guy was full of information, showing us all of his working ferrets and their litters, let us play with the oldest litter and answered all questions with more than i expected thanks for your help on here guys seeing as you all said best to get kits from a working line and a couple of you said itd be good to get one of each sex, also wasnt it nice having a topic where everyone isnt screaming and throwing knives at each other Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
Nope, to be fair if keep clean, dry and draft free and well fed and watered, they are fairly hardy animals. I give mine the occasional worm / flee treatment, pull ticks out when i see them, clean the ears and trim the claws when i see it's needed. That's about it. But handle the shit out of them, make ferreting a lot easier. Quote Link to post

Really do handle them lots let the kid's play with them etc especialy picking them up off the floor this helps to prevent skullking when coming out of the warrens. Good luck you wont look back mate it really is a nice addiction...............ahum pastime! ATB Seany Quote Link to post
popnoodle 4
i would upload some pictures but 200kb is rediculous for a picture upload limit and i gave up on photo bucket ages ago, youll just have to take my word for it that theyre cute at first loki (hob) was cuddley as hell and poppy (jill) was the devil incarnate now theyve pretty much switched a few days later, loki has torn my hand ragged today but he's started making an odd noise like hes got a hair in his throat so i think hes agitated by that. eating and drinking fine so not overly worried its just painful for me lol and blame the girlfriend for the names, didnt mind loki as its the norse god of mischief who had a mask but i thought it was tempting fate a bit by calling him that Edited May 28, 2011 by popnoodle Quote Link to post

popnoodle 4
was reading over this topic has ive been thinking about getting some working ferrits to work with the dog, where is the best place you found on the internet to find them ? e.g breeders ? asked advice on here, mainly found in this topic then i looked on the freeads website and the ad trader paper. if they list loads of different markings available and that theyll come nip trained then chances are theyre a tidy breeder. went to the rescue lady in barry today and she said even though she doesnt agree with the mass breeding like the breeder does (thats why she gets most of her rescue ferrets) she could see my two were in lovely condition etc and only slightly nippy which was soon solved with some firm "no"s and some stewing steak Quote Link to post
popnoodle 4
just about got the ferrets to stop biting the last couple of days, pretty good seeing as they like to play fight with hands and dont put any pressure in the bites the jill has started doing a daft kit version of the weasel wardance the last two days and the hob did it a bit earlier when i was fighting with him lol. still cant get them to poo where i want them to :S Quote Link to post
