moonlighter 1,164
My parents got 2 lurchers when I was 4 when we moved to the country as pets. I used to love it though when they chased stuff, offen by mistake...and after years of begging for my own they finally let me have a pup from there last litter. I was about 10/11 years old. I'm 32 now and had them ever since. It's only in the last 8 years though since I joined the eelc that i started hunting with others, before then I was always going solo! Quote Link to post

shaaark 10,907
i was wondering how long members been in to their running dogs of any breed or cross myself ime 57 and had them all my life since a kid other than a few years when the kids were in their teens and played international table tennis and i was running them round 7 days a week for coaching so packed them in for a few years. but soon got back into it when they started work themselves .remember the first time i discovered lamping about 1976 1977 and was out every night summer and winter for a few years fog moon wind no wind it didnt make any differance i had to get out with the lamp and dogs . the only bonus age brings is making you wiser even if its only a bit lol. lets hear from otheres when they started with dogs . 36 years. Started with walking my old man and his mate's greyhounds which they ran at bedwellty and ystrad mynach. Then had whippets then lurchers ( not at the same time ). Started lamping locally around 1980ish, then as I got older ventured further afield to run my dogs at hares, which were scarce in my area. Now, with age catching up with me etc, lamping is pushed to the back of my mind and am thinking of getting another whippet for daytime work. Quote Link to post
