Hi all. Just a query really as I'm not a fisherman. I live next to the beach and walk the dogs on there everyday. What I was wondering, is there any type of fish I could catch by leaving a line cast in at say low tide and returning next low tide. Similar to setting a rabbit snare at dusk and returning at Dawn. Just thought it would be a handy way of catching a few fish and adding a bit of fun to the walk. I know it's prob not very sporting but any info is welcomed. Cheers.

depends how far out the tide goes we used to set long lines in the estuary 40 hooks between two 56rs baited with lug mackie for flounders will catch most fish a bit more sporting than a gill net and legal to ,, u can buy long lines on ebay but we just made our own using 4z nylon as a mainline crimps/beads/swivel and mono for a trace

Long line with a squid on each hook works well for bass if you live in the right area and its the right time of year.

You should get a rod. It's nice sitting on the beach on a summer evening with the dogs running around and a few beers and a barbecue.

Just please make sure you take your barbecue home when you leave.
