ftm 3,357
most dogs will learn to mark rabbit warrens mate it comes quite natural if you go rabbitting a lot on the subject of lurchers a collie whippet is the one i would go for as i bred a litter for a friend and they were great i work a cocker now and she does the job of marking sets for the keeper and never faulse marks [i didnt train her to do this ]atb billy Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
You don't train a dog to mark, it just does or doesn't. Most do eventually. The more exposure the better. Don't praise too much as it can encourage false marking Quote Link to post

Usually if they hit a run through grass they will run the line, if it's gone through a hedge or cover recently mine sometimes pauses and marks where it's gone through as if he thinks it's gone to ground, but then usually pushes through once he's figured it out.
