Jus been out tonight again walking him through lambs. Never hsmardly looked at them. So rightly or wrongly i thought f**k it, let him off the lead right in the middle of field, bad idea he killed another two lambs.......joke.....walked back and fortg through the field and never paid them any attention. I dont know if it was the influence of terrier, jus watchin dogs chase deer or what but he never did it before and he not. Doing it now. Still keeping close eye though think i always will. Lesson learned

Whilst I admire your sentiment Ethyl. The time for sentiment has passed, what is needed is cold hard facts. People come on a forum and ask advice and it always seems to be after the fact. Would it not

Well would you not be better giving the lad your idea of what to do rather than telling everyone else theyre worng perhaps? Easy to sit there and be a smart arse the lads asked for advice not criticis

I like a dog that's not good with strangers Coz then people will think twice before stealing the dog and plus i like to think my dog will protect and help me if need be and I would have no problem muz

i wasn't going to comment on this topic as i've never had a dog attack never mind kill a lamb/sheep, but it was only 2 days ago that your dog killed or helped to kill a lamb and already you are walking through the field with ewes and lambs in, and have the dog walking of the lead, ffs get it on the lead mate, you have had 2 warnings already, how many more you need

Didn't bother commenting on this thread before but after reading the above I'm going to.

Your dog has just recently killed a lamb yet you see fit to let it loose in a field of lambs then joke that it killed two, yet if it had wanted to kill

some of them you were in no position to stop it.

Have a good look at the last two words in your post Adam,-"lesson learned" it doesn't look like you have learned anything.

see how come some one can come on and give an answer like that and others are like the lads a fukin idiot..shoot the dog...always gonna kill em now...diks.

And once you've drilled it into him do it again and again and again! Do it once a week for 6 weeks and you'll be fine mate. Good luck and all the best with him. Keep us posted eh? I'm keen to see how you get on!

And then go and own up to the owner of the sheep and see if he wants some arsewipe and his ill trained dog walking through his fields

That'll help the lad eh? Well done! :clapper:

Dont think the intention was to help the lad. People who've been on the recieving end of sheep worrying tend to have very definate views on it.

Theres been alot of talk about training the dog but first and foremost has he been and squared it with the farmer? That should be the first thing he did and barely anyone has even mentioned it and hes still not said whether he has or not.

Adam dont avoid sheep that wont help him at all.Just use a long line or lungle line only about £5 for one at most pet shops or online. Then you can train him and you still have a hold of him meaning he cant take off the same way he would off lead.Maybe if your going to have him off lead for now muzzle him so that at least he cant pull them down the same way
