Whilst I admire your sentiment Ethyl. The time for sentiment has passed, what is needed is cold hard facts. People come on a forum and ask advice and it always seems to be after the fact. Would it not

Well would you not be better giving the lad your idea of what to do rather than telling everyone else theyre worng perhaps? Easy to sit there and be a smart arse the lads asked for advice not criticis

I like a dog that's not good with strangers Coz then people will think twice before stealing the dog and plus i like to think my dog will protect and help me if need be and I would have no problem muz

Well thats where i have made my mistake and i take responsibility for that. I didnt realise that was the build up to it i thought it was a sign of having no aggression towards them. Im used ti collie crosses which are easy to stock break. Thats where i have let the poor lad down then.

do you still have it . cos there is no sheep where i am ,!!

Hi mate,

dont want to appear rude, but what the fu** use would a sheep muncher be to you. You could never guarantee you wouldnt be on land with sheep. the lad done the right thing.

Surely your not that desperate for a dog that one that proved untrainable would suffice.

The dog wasnt unsuitable or infact a problem IT WAS THE OWNER he asked for advice then ignored everything that was said about not letting him run loose with or near livestock till he had really got it into the dogs head that he couldnt have them.He let the dogf loose round sheep thinking somehow the dog had magically re trained itself and wouldnt touch them then BAM lamb gets dragged down no big surprise. He f****d it up bigstyle not the dog he was the one in charge and didnt do what he should have so he only has himself to blame.

What cant you understand about the fact that i opened the back door and he ran and jumped straight over the back fence thirty metres away which happened to have sheep in the field where there hadnt been in the whole. Two years i have lived here. I did not let him run loose with them on purpose ffs i had every intention of doing it properly, i even got lunge line off my mams friend.

A few of us "diviz" can spell  A lot of folk on the thread offered sound advice and no mention of shooting the dog.......Now i'll say that in the past adams posts have given the impression he is a nice lad BUT on this matter i feel he should of listened when he was typing and the fact is he didn't, im not talking about the "final" taste of mutton but the fact the dog was off the lead loose with sheep days after ragging one, is that sensible? Or would the sensible thing to do be treat the dog as unstockbroken and start again with stock, unfortunately thats not interesting and takes time!!! Anyway im away back to my armchair and to continue being a wanker
