hi lads

yesterday was all planned until i get a call from wor kid "sack it tonight " its blowing a gale and pissing down (soft arse) did he not know i had a new set of nv to try lol :whistling: anyway i decided to head out in the nasty nasty weather only to find when i get to the permission it was bone dry and not a breath of wind so i sent a quick text to wor kid just incase he fancied a run up and i cracked on .

as the nv was new to my rifle a quick zero was in order and after 8 pellets we were off the first hour was not to bad i i managed these 3 the 1st was a sitter at about 20/25 yards away from the van lol the amount of noise i made zeroing i didnt expect 1 so quick

as i wondered over to the top paddock i spotted the 2nd one for the night i judged it at about 30/35 yards and using the fence post as a rest i let the pellet slip away only to see it land just short and the rabbit just looked up and started munching the grass again so i slowly cocked the hw and gave it 1/2 a mill over followed by the best back flip ive seen

as the van was close i nipped back and dropped the rabbits off and had a quick cuppa as i sat the sky cleared and the brightest moon came through i didnt even need the ir on the scope to see for miles shit i thought thats not good but you have to play the hand your dealt so off i went heading off to the big field as i came through the main facility i had a quick scan and noticed a little red jewel now the moon was behind me casting my shadow and i had about 20 yards to get within the 30 yards zero ive just got the new nv and im not comfortable taken long shots yet so i got as low to the ground as possible and made my way it must of took 10mins stopping every few crawls to see if it was still there at last i made the zero range very slowly i dropped the bipods a quick flick of the nv and that was that number 3 in the bag but not a rabbit

Photo0023.jpg

anyhow after that the sky was that bright i thought it was day so a quick phone call to plod to close the log number and i was on my way home all in all a low count but a good night

Nice shooting mate!

Bloody typical though.....

Where I was 10 miles away it was pissing down and blowing a gale.... the windmills could hardly keep up so I headed off home and cracked a couple of tinnies open.

Then I got a text off wor kid saying it was all clear.......

This is where it gets interesting for future shoots...... we've both now got the same rifles and NV units....

Not bothered about it getting wet mate....just detest sideways rain!

I put up with it for years in the forces cos I "had to".....now I dont have to so I dont bother.

However its always the case...... if me n wor kid plan something we always get cut short or something happens, if either one of us drops out it's always near on perfect..... lol

I definately think he's gonna love that NV though...... and what a good person I am for selling him it...CHEAP!!... Family eh!!

It might just be the picture but that doesnt look like a hare to me. It looks like an enormous rabbit, look at the length of the back legs, compared to a hares, and the shape of the ears. I think you might have a record breaking giant rabbit there! Do you have any more photos?

That's what I was thinking Tyla don't look like a hare does it? Good shooting though mate atb banjo

The body, legs and ears are like a scaled up rabbit but the head shape is more like a hare. A really interesting creature, Festa do you have any other pictures? If it is a rabbit its the biggest wild rabbit i've ever seen!

Just had another look at the picture, were those full grown rabbits behind it or young ones?
