Rifle size for Stalking.

Ignore the .22 cf's they are a bit specialist.

For all deer a minumum of .243 is the legal requirement.

You must look into it before you apply as if you are not genned up they will not look on kindly.

It is not a requirement to do a dsc1 but with your lack of experience I would recomend you do it.

regards John

In ireland you will get a permit to shoot deer of any type with a 22.250 and a 55gr bullet. Can anyone tell me why you cant shoot deer with a 220 swift when the bullet can go up tp 70gr i think, not sure but know they go beyond the 55gr required.Just curious as i have a 220 and loads of permission with deer on also but now have to change my rifle to do a bit of stalking.

your best bet is not to try and understand each countries laws on deer they all contradict them selves.

google the deer act for the area you want to hunt and check you will be legal.
