sionnach 44
muzzle him till he gets used to the pup, take um out together and introduce them slowly to each other or he will kill it or break its spirit keep them seperated or he'll kill d pup. its sounds like he's jealous of d pup. even as they get older he'll probably have a dislike for him. best to walk or hunt them seperate imho, y.i.s, sionnach Quote Link to post
catchwrestler 31
Usually when a pup voids its bowels like that it is it's final way of submitting to the more dominant dog , if the adult did not break off when the pup did this this then i doubt you will get the adult to accept the pup . skycat 6,173
Separate full time or you'll have a dead pup on your hands, or if not dead, so sh*t scared of everything it'll either grow up to be a wimp or a very aggressive dog: getting in there first before another dog can do to it what was done to it as a pup. Could be that your other dog may accept it in time, but you have to be boss and not tolerate that sort of behaviour from any of your dogs. Some Patts are noted for their intolerance of other dogs full stop. Quote Link to post

mo-jo 0
i have two litter mates one female and one male they are nuttalls x 3/4 gould 1/4 wheeler and since they where five months old have had some ripper fights. since that time i have kept them separated and have tried to run them together but always fight, so if i go hunting now i take one or the other or leave one in its box and take in turns at letting them out. i suppose its the price you pay when you have good game bred dogs. lol Quote Link to post
mudd dog 128
i've the same problem at the minute myself. my two pups i bred myself are 6 weeks old now. im limited to kennel space so i had to put them in to the pen next to there sire. the sire is a placid dog and has been well worked over the years. he's got an excellent temperment for a working terrier. i was gobbsmacked when he began to lunge at the pups threw the wire!!!!! he's now chained up at the back of the garden well away from the pups. yes it's an inconveniance but he will have to stay there untill the pups get up a bit. one bite from him at a 6 wk old pup and that would be disaster!!! i've too much at stake to lose this line so my advice to you is keep them well away from eachother no matter what. CorkyJohn 808
I doubt they'll ever get on, you could separate them but IMO its less hassle to part with one. The older one might settle down with plenty of graft but I think you'll always be keeping an eye on them. I had a similar problem but it was the pup finding his feet started on the older dog, he was alot bigger & a right hand full but was turning into a promising dog so I sent the older dog to a keeper mate who still has him. The younger dog served me well but was always a b*****d, he mauled a labrador & was PTS last year Quote Link to post
vduben 55
its a real pain because hes a lovely dog and wont be doing much ground work, hes my mrs dog, im very limited on kenel space at the min, proably best getting a bitch, it would of been nice to kennel them together, the pups in the house at the min so it'll be ok untill hes house trained.....
