Invisgun in the field!

Recommended Posts

As some of you may know Ken the Super Ten was sold off as Mrs Mole decided to get rid of her Super Ten and I wanted it (Realtree camo dipped one), tehre were also other reasons which I am not divulging sufficeth to say Ken was powerful enough for anyone...

Today the Realtree was taken to the range to set up with the data from BRC! Zeroed in at first zero no problem, second zero I could not get enough lift (having used all the movement on the first), now I encountered another problem, I left my damned allen keys at home, went into the range clubhouse and borrowed one from a jigsaw... Made a shim and placed it in the mount, then went back, got it zeroed nicely!

Decided to take it down to the big permission. Walked out and waited (was at the slow point of the afternoon), patrolling round I went down the track and got just round the corner, goos sized kit out, ranged up 54 metres, aimed, fired, dead rabbit! Walking back I saw a kit on the bank near a tangle of brambles, only a small one, but I was able to take it, sub 10 metres, it fell in the brambles, was not big enough to worry about. Got on the nettly knoll and there was another kit, on the edge and one further in the field, lined on the one on the edge, fired, in the damned brambles again. 3 dropped 1 retrieved. The Super Ten has a problem, it is so loud comapred to the Daystate that it is like letting off a rimfire! The rabbits 80m down could hear it and scattered. Waited on top of the knoll and dropped another 2 into the brambles, once again too small. Then I saw one in the track, down from me, so I got off the knoll and got onto the track, 57 metres away, I lined up and fired, missed it by a whisker, I could hear the riccochet from the slug as it whistled off, bunny just sits there, probably thinking "The Wasps round here shift a bit!", did not have the heart to tell it that I was using Crossman Premier Magnums. I lined up again, got it right and fired, dead bunny, that is the small one in the middle of the 5 I could retrieve.

Back to the bales and there was a nice sized kit on the other bank, sub 10 metres, lined up and shot, dropped it, I had to retrieve that one, luckily the ditch was dry, unluckily, lined with dead nettle stems, crash, snap, crunch, oh well, got it and back to the knoll. I saw a couple at 37 metres, aimed for the biggest one, lined up, shot, rabbit down, other one heads for cover so fast it reminded me of the rabbit at Yarmouth stadium! That was 4 for the photo. Back up on the knoll and after a half hour a load more came out to play, aimed the rf at the biggest rabbit in the group and it came back at 57m, took careful aim, fired, rabbits everywhere, moving like greased bunnies! But the one I aimed at was down, so thats 5 retrieved and 3 in the ditch in the tangles.

Damned well, sub 1p grouping at 32 metres in the hands of Mole! Quiet, very quiet and mine is clocking about 11.3 ft/lb using AA Fields in .177! I would have a look for one of those, they are worth the money, I know they are available in .177 and .22, left and right hand stocks, unsure of other calibres (ie .2 or .25)! Soemtimes you get some right bargains on them!
