The Breeder 156
do you think that alot of show people keep the strain and keep them only for shows has ruined the line some ? the reason i ask is i have a chance of a young dog still green . awsome looking animal but i think the parents have just been for showing and not working ! do you think the dog would still have the work ability or would this have been lost with lack of work and too much show ? Out of Middleton lines a working Lakey bitch She may well work mate but she's a far cry from the show shit thats kicking about with the same name I suppose you are right had this line a long time I do not go to shows I have not spoke to Gary for over 18 years breeder, does your stuff go back to Rex etc from 70's? I had a bitch out of Rex, but she did not make the grade. We were digging a lot of stuff then and had better stuff out of Gary's old Tim, Nettle and Zeb line, but the best stuff for me was out of Rock the White Footed dog. I line bred to him, this was his grandson Sid a very good dog to ground - the stuff I have today all come from this line. Quote Link to post

lurchers 2,762
there is still a good bit of good looking working middleton stuff about you just have to find out who still uses them and show ones do still work. 1 Quote Link to post
Black Dog Enthusiast 0
Working Lakelands are few and far between in modern ages. There are lads on here that keep there own line of working lakeland and fair play to them but if you go to a show in Eire you will find that there is more Lakelands being showed at shows than any other breed and there is no doubt the majority of these dogs have never been dug too. The lads that have them will talk about GM Lines and how there dogs are bred but they've spent more time with the Hairdryer over the top of them than in the ground with lads digging over the top of them. Shame too see as they use to be a very useful worker and done things as well as any other breeds. Quote Link to post
CorkyJohn 808
Mate had a good one supposedly going back to Zeb, very hard terrier & touchy with other dogs but never let us down & would hold mid tube. Only ever one hole dug, produced a few decent pups to a Parks bred bitch but produced shite when bred back to 2 GM bred lakeys. Any amount of GM show shite being bred & peddled up Durham way courteousy of a few of the local show ponies Quote Link to post
