Sweeney-Todd 208
Hi Villaman. Simon ( Tench ) has been a busy man over the past few months. Bill. He's got all the time in the world now from what I heard at the THL meet. Well apparently he has for the next 15 years anyway! I'm not 100% sure but isn't he "busy doin' nowt at her majesty's pleasure"? Tony Hi Tony. I hope that is not the case mate. I know he had a spot of bother, but did not realise it was quite as bad as your saying, or have heard it might be. I thought the new fitters he trained was to help with the quantity of work, and get the turn around times looking better, at the same time, keeping his customers happy, and not to cover a possible absence. Bill. Quote Link to post

XTX 0
What a load of cobblers! I chat to him every other day and no, it is not on a pay phone in a prison. I think you will find there are a lot of bitter people who have nothing better to do that slate/rubbish their opposition. I am learning this already, getting threats of legal action for having an opinion on forums and threats of sending the police around because I work on sub 12ftlbs airguns, which is perfectly legal. The police know what I do, how I do it and are perfectly happy I am not breaking the law. If anybody has any "proof" of him being inside then feel free to get in touch. Quote Link to post
tillygti6 0
so thats why i had to pick my guns up from the isle of wight then, how did i not realise? sounds like someones upset/tired/a child and starting rumours really doesnt it. no si's not in jail, hes not stipid enough to break the laws, he know exactly what he can and cant do. anyhow youve made my morning, a good laugh ive had here! tommy Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Hi XTX, That’s brilliant news about Simon being ok buddy. Simon regged and tuned my BSA Ultra and tuned and played about with my r10 and the work that man does is amazing. If you are anywhere near as good as Simon at regging and tuning rifles you will have my custom in the future if I need a reg fitting mate. The next time you speak to Simon please say Si Pittaway asked about him and sends his best. Cheers Si. Quote Link to post

Sweeney-Todd 208
Hi XTX. Its good to have confirmation Simon is ok Though I had terrible problems contacting him about a friends rifle he should have been working on. Had to go though a very helpfull third party to clear up a misunderstanding. After several messages delivered to Simon, on our behalf, by the third party, he still refused to get in contact, not very encouraging and very frustrating. I hope he has dealt with the problems he had, and is now back on form. He has also regd two of my rifles, his work is excellent, very clever guy, and willing to put right any niggles. ATB. Bill. I don't know any details of your friend's gun and the story surrounding it but if you have any warranty issues then you can get in touch with me, I will sort them out and settle up with Tench. He has not had a working computer for ages, which does not help. I think it is getting sorted soon, which will improve the lines of communication. Quote Link to post
RancidTom 1
Hi XTX. I don't know any details of your friend's gun and the story surrounding it but if you have any warranty issues then you can get in touch with me, I will sort them out and settle up with Tench. He has not had a working computer for ages, which does not help. I think it is getting sorted soon, which will improve the lines of communication. I know all about the gun in the above quote, I'm the "third party" mentioned. I'll confirm that the situation is resolved. I doubt that he'll be requiring any warranty work Darrin. Now further to the original topic on this post I have posted this on BSAOG and will post a copy here for everyone with doubts about the legal status of some of the people who have been mentioned above: I think I know where this rumour "probably" originated. I myself have received various suggestions that I may be breaking some laws and that other people I know or do business with should be very careful or they may get a visit from the police. I'll state here my reply to those rumours and suggestions that I may be on dodgy legal ground: I am employed as an airgunsmith to a Registered Firearms Dealer. The quaint legal terminology for my status is "Servant to an RFD". As such I hold a register of firearms in my possession, just the same as any RFD, have BS approved gun safes in secure premises, just as any RFD has to. All work taken in by the gunshop is signed into their register, then onto mine if I work on it. After completion the work is signed back into the shop register for collection from the shop. Any work I take on directly is signed in to my register and signed out when complete/collected/delivered. I can't afford to have any grey areas as it's not just myself who would be prosecuted, the RFD I work for would also be prosecuted if anything was found to be illegal. I know that the other people who I deal with (XTX and Tench for example) are totally legal (nobody is stupid enough to risk 5+ years for breaking the firearms laws). I know the letter of the law regarding firearms and air rifles and have even spoken to the Home Office (who write the laws) and BASC (who advise the Home Office regarding the implementation and application of the laws the Home Office write) and can assure our members that myself, Tench and XTX are completely legal in everything we do. BSAOG endeavour to keep the site totally legal and won't allow people to advertise sales or services which may cross legal borderlines as it reflects badly on airgun owners as a whole if even one of our members gets into trouble. There are jealous people around who will start rumours or simply add fuel to rumours for their own personal gratification. Some of these people won't even post their opinions or rumours, they have other parties post such rumours for them. I suggest that if anybody has any doubts about legal status of any traders or people who modify/tune guns they contact BSAOG forum management to clarify the position. As far as we know all the members/traders on BSAOG are 100% legal, they either have RFD status or are working/selling in an area which does not require RFD status. If anyone hears any rumours please check the source and validity of the information before posting, as some people seem to think threats of action for libel are valid. Such people don't seem to want to post their opinions but rely on others to post their rumours? To these people I suggest that a written statement rather than secondhand rumours may go some way to solve the "problems" they generate. RancidTom 1 Quote Link to post
