I never used a hob i didnt like to put the jill through the roughness of a mating for nothing in the end. Quote Link to post

I think the ones point is that they are probably the final thing, you'll be needing a box, nets etc, before you can do much with the ferret, but it IS possible, and quite safe in many places to ferret without a locater at first. Interesting she came in again, did you wait a wee while from when she was fully swollen, or just get her jabbed as soon as she started to swell up? R.E the roughness, i think the jill probably enjoys the mating more then when the devolstrum (sp) goes in, also i think as she knows she has been rammed she handles the hormonal changes better. I.E its all way more natural. Quote Link to post

How should the locator be at the top of the list SURELY he has a lot to learn about ferrets and what sexes hes getting before he even consider working them ??.As your post shows bring the jills out of season and no having kits MUST be number one ??. I meant if hes planning to work them and before he works them once hes learnt everything a location is a must. it a must for anyone that vaules their pet. Yes bringing the jills out of season is number one. the market is already flooded with unwanted ferrets, for me, IMO i dont like using a snipped hob because its so ruff and there is an alternative. RE the jill coming back into season i waited 10 days from when i noticed the swelling and got her jabbed but she still came in again. i do know of other peoples ferrets that do the same Quote Link to post
