gurtwurz 792
hi lads, well as some of you may remember i ordered a diana 430 stutzen nearly 2 months ago, and as my patience was finally wearing thin as to where it had got to, i rang my RFD this morning to see what was happening... my RFD, being a decent set of fellas rang up ruag to chase em up and got back to me with the following news- 'sorry wurz, theyre not gonna be able to dispatch it from germany til the end of june,so you wont see it til the beginning of august' 'do what?' 'yeah mate, theres been a cock up at the factory and theyre behind on orders,so they wont despatch it til the end of june. sorry mate' 'for sake the useless ' so my temper has flared, patience has evaporated and i'm off to the shop to get another underlever, either a HW97,HW77, TX200HC or a pro sport, and if i dont like any of them in my shoulder then i think they've some older diana side levers that might do the job, but i'm damned if i'm waiting any longer for the stutzen. the thing that's really me off is that i couldnt make the meet in the end cos i was holding on to all my spare cash to pay for the thing... sorry about the rant, i just needed to get that off my chest... cheers, wurz Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Gutted for you Wurz I've been messed about like that, but not with a gun. I know you've been eager to get your hands on it for a while. Take care buddy Tony Quote Link to post
rascal_2005 79
thats rubbish mate, go for the 77 Quote Link to post
markha 99
Ahh mate, that sucks, I know its no consolation, but my dealings with Phil at RUAG have been very efficient and very fast. Everything does come to he who waits, well sometimes, if its any help I'm happy to post my Meteor .177 for you to borrow, sure its only got 6ftlbs, but its my 1st gun from back in the day and your welcome to it till your Stutz arrives. pianoman 3,587
Aww bloody hell, NO, John. That's just not on! I'm so sorry for you mate, I know full well how you've hankered, dreamed and wished and saved for that Diana Stutzen rifle. Well, as a Weihrauch spring rifle man yourself, and having viewed your alternative list of underlevers, I cannot recommend a .22 HW77 enough. I'm just absolutely thrilled and delighted with mine and I wouldn't trade it for any number of Dianas; as nice though they undoubtedly are. If the Stutzen is a lost cause, the next Diana I would be tempted with would be the 54 AIRKING sidelever. I really like the look and feel of that rifle. But, is there another silly bloody wait there as well? Then again, I was witness to Andy's (AndyFR1968) Diana 52 sidelever snapping in half like a twig when he cocked it to commence a lamping stalk with Si and me on my permission. Not the best advert for their durable longevity! (Although this one is 22 years old, to be fair.) I was hugely in love with the Prosport and prayed for Air Arms to make it left-hand available. Right at the moment when they finally have, I went for the HW77 and I cannot be more delighted at how right I've got my choice for once. That bit of film Si made of me and Andy shooting a penny off a stone at 50-metres range was well within capability. We were cracking shotgun cartridge cases, end-on the brass cap, off a stone the other day at this range without breaking a sweat. That's after we've smashed em up shooting them off sticks at 55 metres! Andy had his lovely HW90 gas ram, me and my beloved HW77! Really honestly, I've got some bloody awesome spring rifle kit, but this 77 is the most sweetly accurate air rifle I've ever shot with. That's including PCPs. Andy here has done a phenominal tune up on her that's really smoothed out her firing manner to a near-recoiless supergun and I can't be happier than when I'm hunting with her. It's your money John but, in the light of this bombshell, the HW77 is what I'd drown my sorrows with. I wish you could shoot with mine for a bit. You'd soon forget all about Diana Stutzens and Prosports Sincerest good wishes mate. I know how gutted you must be feeling. Simon Quote Link to post
77 si 21
Mate that sucks, hope you manage to find another rifle you like instead. I would have a look at the hw77 for sure. ATB with the search Si Quote Link to post

gurtwurz 792
cheers for the kind words lads! it aint often i throw the toys out but i was pretty ed off this morning, but now i've spent a while in the RFD's(C H Westons) and after i'd had a go on all the shortlisted rifles, it was down to either the HW97K sporter or the pro sport... i'm now the proud owner of a walnut pro sport, and having got it home and furnished it with a JSR 3-9x40 scope i got it zeroed within 10 shots and its firing sub 1" groups at 25m out of the box, so its doing what it needs to straight away. a very nicely balanced and easily pointable rifle, for me anyway. i'm off out with the dog and itself to see if we see owt, it'd be nice to christen it tonight but the dogs fairly frisky so i doubt he'll be able to keep himself in check, but you never know... i might, in the future, if dosh allows, see if i can get a stutzen stock made for it, then it'll truly be the perfect rifle!! thanks again lads, you cheered me right up all the very best, wurz edited to say- naturally its in .22... gurtwurz 792
thanks lads, well,i went out with it last night, but as expected the dog was not in hunting mode, more like run around like a bloody mad thing mode, but i just had a plink at some lumps of chalk and that kinda thing to get to know the pro sport better. then i took it out this morning for some paper punching, having adjusted the scope a tad, and am now getting one hole groups at 25m, alright so theyre big holes but i'm more than happy with it, lovely balance, fairly snappy firing cycle and not too loud, just a reassuring low 'doink' noise of the piston doing its bit. i'm gonna lighten the trigger a tiny bit, and then it should be bang on. course, the missus is looking at me kinda sideways when i tell her i'm off upstairs to oil my wood... cheers lads, wurz 1 Quote Link to post
