if worst come to worst I would have them stay here , as they are my families as much as mine , however i would want the lad I run with too keep grafting them if possible, even just to keep there hand

wouldnt sell give to very close mates

Bought and sold working collies for lots of money. Paid £750 for one in 1984 - and it was one of the best collies I've ever had and also paid fair sums for what amounted to little more that the pastoral equivalent of Mad Frankie Fraser. Sold some good collies for fair amounts too. If a dog is expensive is it a guarantee that it's going to do what you want time and time again? Don't suppose it is.

If I'd ever had to get rid of any of my lurchers/terriers I might've just given it to someone who lived as far away from me as possible and someone that I was never going to see again as I might just hate hearing how well the dog's doing and having a regular reminder of what I was missing. That's a bit selfish eh?

I understand but I'd rather give to a mate and still go out on hunting trips with it. Wouldn't bother me if I wasn't officially the owner.

if i had to get rid of my alfie dog id rather cull him than sell/gift him to some one .... sounds harsh but the dog does what i want it to do and probably wouldnt suit other people so why risk putting that dog on the peddler/dealer merry go round ... even good mates can/could do you a bad turn with a gifted dog

Im not against shooting a dog if its no good or too old in the wright circimstance, but what you just said smacks of real selfishness.

if I cant have him no one can, so ill snuff a healthy dog thats done nothing wrong out. iv known boys who have pulled chickens heads of rather than give them away incase someone ende up with a better bird than them. I dont have nothing to do with them no more myself.

this from the man who told a young lad other day,who had asked advice about his sick ferret.what was it you said?something along the lines of.crack it over the head they only cost a fiver.

baldockbanks .... not selfishness as my dog is wank and no one else would want to own him ... the dog only gives his all when im running him ... and he wont settle unless he thinks im in the house ...

so why would i rehome the dog for the person who gets it to pass the dog on as it wont settle or give the dog a hiding ... the dog means alot to me and id rather know it was dead than being mistreated some where ...

to sell your dog for money it sad. then you need to replace them most dogs are only for sale because the owner is not happy with them or they are crap etc but if l could not keep a dog any more l would give it to a friend that would look after it so l no it going to have a good life l sold a dog a long time ago for a lot of money and l was sick as a pig when l realised what l done trying to find one like the one l had it was a long road and cost me a lot more in the long run so when some one ask you a thousand or more just think how much work gone in to that dog before you sell him.
