AlbertJ 569 Posted May 8, 2011 Report Share Posted May 8, 2011 (edited) Unfortunately due to continuing ill health Seamus Erwin of the Mid Antrim Club has had to stand down from organising duties at the Irish Game Fair at Shanes Castle ( and the All Ireland Terrier & Lurcher Championships) and at the Irish Game & Country fair at Birr Castle, Co Offaly. He hopes to be involved in some capacity in other more minor events throughout the year. On behalf of the Directors of the Great Game Fairs of Ireland I should like to thank Seamus for bringing his knowledge and organisational abilities to our events to create some of the largest terrier and lurcher events of their kind in the UK & Ireland. Terrier and lurcher owners throughout Ireland owe Seamus a great debt of gratitude for his efforts in promoting the working terrier & lurcher and in developing the concept of shows for enthusiasts. I hope there will be a big turnout at Shanes Castle for when I make Seamus a formal presentation in recognition of his contribution. I have worked with Matt Lee in the establishment of a new club to run the events this year - the Glenbank Working Dog Club - and it will run all the events at Shanes and the Show at Birr. At Birr the Glebank Club will run the show and the local Rosscrea Club will run the racing. All arrangements will be reviewed for 2012. One major change for Birr 2011 is that class fees for the show have been reduced to €3 - please ensure you have the correct entry fee available. Racing fees will be agreed after full discussions have taken place with the Rosscrea Club. We are offering Terrier & Lurcher enthusiasts admission for both days for the price of one but these tickets must be purchased in advance from me. Please ignore earlier posts regarding class entry fees and admission charges. The trophies we provided at Ballywalter were well received and they will be used for class winners at both fairs. Albertj Genuinely sorry to hear about Seamus's health problems PPP though that the Mid Antrim club folds through one mans illness, Suggestion for 2012; have each of your shows organised by seperate clubs then maybe if anything like what has happened this year you will have an alternative/experienced club to step in at short notice Eggs in basket springs to mind Y.I.S Leeview Quote Link to post Share on other sites

As I said Seamus may feel up to running smaller events from time to time but I felt a new organisation was needed to take forward the new larger terrier & lurcher events that we envisage at the Great Game Fairs of Ireland. It was unfortunate that on top of everything else he hurt his leg badly which affected his mobility badly. Glad to hear that he is getting well enough to consider being involved in Florence Court.
