what a night!

Recommended Posts

Took the pup out tonight for a walk with the lamp as i have been doing for a while now on a sandy links near to me, the area is great for a young dog as its the most forgiving surface you can find, its just like running on the beach really.

anyway shes been showing the right signs for a while now, so we were walking along and 3 rabbits were sitting out miles from anything and i mean miles, no fences roads nothing, so i thought well fiac, why not? she had seen them as soon as i had, lets see what your made off.

so i slipped her and off she went like a bullet, they all bolted different ways but she had made her choice of rabbit and was sticking to it. She tunrned it and the chase was on, my heart was in my mouth they turned a good few times and she was right on its backside and not a peep out of her, things were looking good. the rabbit now took off in a straight line and they were getting further away, i was struggling to see them in the distance, then it looked like she had stopped.

shit i thought shes lost it, so i shone the lamp on the ground in front of me and whistled her back, thinking how well she done for her first run and then shone it back up to where she stopped and here she was trotting back to me rabbit in mouth proud as punch. Well to say i was made up was an understatement, after a bit of dancing around me she delivered it to me live to hand, with much praise given.

, and i know the general jist is to wait until a bit older but i felt she was ready and she was, dont get me wrong i wont be going out now every night i can running her, this is probably her first and last this season, she probably wont get another chance until next year.

what a state i was in walking back to the car loosing her lead dropping the camera and phone etc etc i was all over the shop lol. we seen plenty more rabbits, but that was all she was going to chase.

anyway i nearly crashed 2 times coming home i was buzzing so much, first thing i did was phone the breeder to tell him, hopefully all my pms to him etc will slow up a bit now asking his advice im sure hes sick of me lol.

i know one swallow doesnt make a summer but it sure made my night!!

a very happy thurso jack, and fiac.

not the best pics in the world but you try taking one when your first running dog has taken its first rabbit.
