dogs that pull up

Recommended Posts

No, he wont be gone if he does it again. but, as I said, it doesn't really bother me, he has never done it on quarry I'm more interested in catching

I'm not really one to oshift on, or pts a dog I've owned since a pup due to a couple of bad days.

Even at 5, he has more that earned his place by the fire.

how true that is not going to voice my opinion as it might hijack the comments just a couple of very well known dog men that i heard over the years in ireland one was talking about a dog that he got over from england and he was happy enough with it but it had gone lame and he laid him off the other man turned around and said dont be stupit get him out now and yeal find out if hes going to jack or not .another dog i seen lying in the back of a van when we had got to the place we were going to hunt and he took his time getting up so i looked at him and seen that all his feet were sore said to this very well known dog man that dog is sore on his feet he must have ran on the road or something to which he replied he did but if he cant run when his feet is sore hes no good to me.if these to dogs stop which they did at a later date is it their fault or are these men clowns as i say very well known and respected dog men are mentioned on here on a regular basis

Dogs dont jam on cause they dont have the wind! they jam on cause they dont have the heart!   had dogs with the wind breeding and abiliyt that threw a one line breaker. had dogs that couldnt barle

if a dog gets blew off or jacks after 3/4 mins everytime it gets on a good hare its not up to the job your doing is it? personally if they get blew off they may aswell jack coz they not good enough, o

DOGS ARE TOOLS IN THE LONG RUN IF THEY DONT DO IT THEY GO.

HAD A S/G PUP I BRED 16MTHS OLD RAN A HARE AND RETRIVED IT WITH A DISLOCATED FRON LEFT PADDLE

POPPED ITS PADDLE ON THIS RUN.

DOG COULD HARDLY WALK.NEVER SQWEALED WHILE WALKING BACK.

WOULDNT LET US LIFT CARRYHIM.HE JUST PLODDED BEHIND US AND OTHER DOGS ON THE WAY HOME.

1MILE IN A HARE JUMPED AND A DOG WAS LOOSED IN PERSUIT ,BECUASE 3 LEGS WASNT LEASHED AWAY HE WENT ASWELL .

I WOULDNT HAVE EVEN CONTEMPLATED SLIPPING A DOG IN THIS CONDITION.

THE CHASE ENDED WITH 3 LEGS POPPING HIS PADDLE BACK IN AND LIFTING AND RETREAVING THE HARE IN FRONT OF A FIT 4 LEGGAR.

THIS DOG EVEN FECKED WAS NO JACKER.

SO WHERE DO YOU SAY AILMENTS ,

DOG CAN/CANNY RUN.

JACKERS /JACK 200YRDS IN WHEN THEY HIT A STRAINER POST.

As mentioned, he wasn't doubled up, the other dog was on a slip.

He is just more competitive with other muts about, so thats why I re-entered him then.

The reason I re-entered him, was simply because I like to keep all options open.

To me, the dog is not a "tool" but a hunting partner.

Only reason I'm mentioning all this, is because I don't want new comers thinking they have to knock there dog on the head if it does pull up.

I understand those more competitive amongst us have to "have" the best thing in their kennels, and are prepared to go through a lot of dogs looking for it.

But its not the only way to go. Lets face it, to the majority of us, this is a hobby, and as long as l'm happy with my dog, to me, thats all that matters
