Scottish Election

Recommended Posts

It appears that the SNP will hold the majority of seats in the new parliement? with this in mind there will undoubtably be a referendum put to the Scottish electorate on the matter of Independance!!! In the year 2014 there is a lot of sporting and cultural events happening that year, one of the most significant is the 700th anniversary of the "BATTLE OF BANNOCKBURN" I think Alex Salmond (Wee Eck) will use this anniversary as the focus of the indepedence issue. The anniversary of Bannockburn and the referendum I believe will coincide in 2014?

Just curious mate. Do you think there should be an age cut off from people being allowed to vote on matters which will seriously affect the future of the next generation? Its a scary thought that a lo

God forbid we ever gain independance and end up being presided over by the likes of the backsliding sneaky bunch of arseholes that is the snp! Salmond is a twat of the highest order and his wee grabbi

kinda thought they would win.hold as many referendums as he likes wont make any diffrence, the maj want to stay part of the union.hence the reason why "wee eck" back tracked on his pledge to hold it,cause the opinion polls were not to his liking.

The majority at one time did not want devolution, a nationalist government, things change! Salmond cannot, not!! hold a referendum in this session and who know's what might happen if the SNP perform well this time and appriciation from the scottish electorate goes well for them!

your a shit stirrer wilf lol

cant see it happening in my lifetime.certainly not when the world is in such an unstable state.we came through two world wars as a nation.yea we have had our dissagrements and our battles ,but at the end of the day a lot of good things have came out of the union.always said independence is a dangerous game to play.more so if you get it wrong. In August 2009, a YouGov survey with the Daily Mail asking if Scottish voters would support independence found that 28% would vote Yes, 57% would vote No, 11% did not know and 5% would not vote.[93]

Another YouGov Opinion poll in October 2010 showed 34% saying Yes, and 50% not in favour of independence, with the other 16% not sure how they would vote.

thank god most scots have common sense

Don't think the rest of the world is the least bit concerned about the issue of scottish independence especially if its decided through the ballot box by the people involved! unlike in the middle east where the type of government is deceided at the end of a gun! as for polls how many polls have got it wrong?

You so right most Scots do have common sense this is twice weve' kicked labour into touch twice!

maybe a proper poll would be to ask the English as to whether the scots should leave the union and pay their own way :whistling: :whistling:

If independence is won comments like this are irrelevant! we have asked for our own and more tax raising powers and more income from scottish produce that the UK government reaps the financial benefit from!

Obviously the pro independance people have done the numbers?.....do they stack up?......how much extra in tax would all the working Scots men and women be paying to keep things as they are or would there have to be a drastic cut in all the "perks" you get at the moment?

You may not know this information Thomas, but it would indeed be interesting to see if it all works out

No matey, no green eyed monster at all.

You get free perscriptions do you not?

There are going to continue with free university education in Scotland I beleive?

There are most likely a few other bits and bobs that you get free while we in England have to pay?

I dont begrudge you it for one second, if you can get away with it more power to your elbow I say but the reality is, all these things have to get funded at no small cost and we only around 5 million people (I dont know what percentage of those are tax payers) I just dont see how you are going to do it.

You may say "North sea oil", but that is a finite resource, what will your grandchildren or their grandchildren have to fall back on OR will you then as a nation need to start importing immigrants to boost the population thus ruining a wonderful country....its somthing to think about

As the old saying go,s....careful what you wish for

Scotland would just get sucked into the EUSSR and have even less independence than now.

60% of Scots work in the public sector and remember the RBS bail out, you would have been bankrupted.
