Foxgun Tom 75
It appears that the SNP will hold the majority of seats in the new parliement? with this in mind there will undoubtably be a referendum put to the Scottish electorate on the matter of Independance!!! In the year 2014 there is a lot of sporting and cultural events happening that year, one of the most significant is the 700th anniversary of the "BATTLE OF BANNOCKBURN" I think Alex Salmond (Wee Eck) will use this anniversary as the focus of the indepedence issue. The anniversary of Bannockburn and the referendum I believe will coincide in 2014? Tom myself and "Wee Eck" Edited May 6, 2011 by Foxgun Tom
scothunter 12,609
kinda thought they would win.hold as many referendums as he likes wont make any diffrence, the maj want to stay part of the union.hence the reason why "wee eck" back tracked on his pledge to hold it,cause the opinion polls were not to his liking. WILF 47,049
I dont believe 5 million people can pay for all the freebies you get in Scotland jmho...and besides, it would be a crying shame to split the union.....f**k me, if we have got to get rid of someone let it be the Welsh!! By the way Thomas, have you got a gun in Alecs back in that photo? Edited May 6, 2011 by WILF

Foxgun Tom 75
The majority at one time did not want devolution, a nationalist government, things change! Salmond cannot, not!! hold a referendum in this session and who know's what might happen if the SNP perform well this time and appriciation from the scottish electorate goes well for them! Tom PS: Glad Ross Finnie lost his seat he was responsible for anti tail docking legislation here! Edited May 6, 2011 by Foxgun Tom

danw 1,748
maybe a proper poll would be to ask the English as to whether the scots should leave the union and pay their own way :whistling:

You so right most Scots do have common sense this is twice weve' kicked labour into touch twice! Edited May 6, 2011 by Foxgun Tom

You may not know this information Thomas, but it would indeed be interesting to see if it all works out

I like the use of Sunday names Can you define "all the perks" we get? or is there a wee bit of the green-eyed monster creeping in the debate? Tom No matey, no green eyed monster at all. You get free perscriptions do you not? There are going to continue with free university education in Scotland I beleive? There are most likely a few other bits and bobs that you get free while we in England have to pay? I dont begrudge you it for one second, if you can get away with it more power to your elbow I say but the reality is, all these things have to get funded at no small cost and we only around 5 million people (I dont know what percentage of those are tax payers) I just dont see how you are going to do it. You may say "North sea oil", but that is a finite resource, what will your grandchildren or their grandchildren have to fall back on OR will you then as a nation need to start importing immigrants to boost the population thus ruining a wonderful country....its somthing to think about As the old saying go,s....careful what you wish for
danw 1,748
Lol let them have it and send not 1 penny north again I can't believe that the amount that Scotland produces can come any where near to what it costs us to keep you just how many people work in the private sector in scotland will their tax support the country? shepp 2,285
Scotland would just get sucked into the EUSSR and have even less independence than now. 60% of Scots work in the public sector and remember the RBS bail out, you would have been bankrupted.
