Great tune though, and as for the summer of love, Thats something those birds in mini skirts made up, and whispered in your ear when they were trying to get your trousers off. comanche 3,104
I think the songwriter was just on form . Probably picked up a grain of an idea or a decent one-liner and rolled with it,adding anything that complemented the slightly laid back and surreal theme . It may or may not have been meant to convey any particular message but it gives the impression of some bizzare ,spaced-out party with a bit of erotic hanky panky thrown in ..... Or is that just me ? Its a bit like Hotel California . What's it about man?. Is it a damning indictment of modern society and greed ?. The Eagles say it means what you want it to . They just cobbled together a combination of words that worked well together . A lot of the best songs come to be by chance formulation. Try too hard to write a classic and the results are usually forced or pretentious . Motorhead probably were'nt aiming to produce a classic when they simply chucked every gambling cliche they could fit into a three minute song and came up with the infamous Ace of Spades Edited May 6, 2011 by comanche
