A bit of trap checking.

Recommended Posts

Went out early this morning to set the Fenn's around the cattle housing I said I'd clear yesterday. So I took to drive up there this evening to see if any were sprung, five were, so its a start, all reset, and out with the HW100KT :D When I walked the place yesterday with the landowner, he also asked if I would drop a couple of fereals that were roosting above the double sliding doors on the front of one of the sheds, he said they were shitting all over his harvester  So I went to have a look, and just as I walked into the shed, two ferels flew out the back of the shed, aaaah! like that is it I thought, someone else has had a go at these, I didn't even get a chance to see where they were before they did one. So I walked over the double doors to where the old boy had said they were roosting, and to my surprise, there they were, sat side by side, so the other two were another pair, so I decided to whack both pairs, at no extra cost :D So I whacked the happy couple, walked over to the open end of the barn to scan the beams for roost shit, but instead I saw a nest on top of some straw bails, so being nosey, I had a look in it, and was greeted by these little dodo's, I mean, these things are f**kin ugly, only their parents could really love them

They're lucky, If they had been eggs, the parents would be gone, but if the fledge, and dont leave for pastures new, then I'll whack them and the parents. Thats my good deed for the day ;) Anyway, while I was feral whacking, I noticed a nice sized rabbit bolt under an old trailer with tall grass growing round it, but I didn't see it leave the trailer :hmm: So standing just inside the door, I thought I would give it five minutes and see what happens, and to my amazment, it hopped out in front of me and sat in the yard, 30 yards, WHACK! A fresh one for the fezzers :D A steady wonder round the farmyard saw me stumble over another bunny. WHACK! And bunny number two makes it a duo, happy with what I had, I made for home. The end of day shot.

And to end the evening, just got given more land, the three rape fields the landowner bought last year, and I'm sure the ferrets will love it this Winter :D

The ferreting went well after the snow passed, the ferrets made an impact, started a new team member, she did well, a little fawn coloured jill, didn't have time for pix or writeups for the ferret section this year, more time next year maybe, but hopefully made enough time for some Summer airgunning :D
