bullmastiff 615
I believe people cross poodles with other dogs because they have hair (like ours) not fur so anyone that is allergic to dogs is fine with poodles. I've always wondered why no one used the miniture ones for ratting/bushing, they've got a decent thick coat, and their shaped like a small whippet so should be pretty quick and their the nastiest little ankle biters your going to meet!! Kay 3,709
But what gets me is these dogs are effectivly what i call a mongral, there not a breed but a cross, there seems to be a sort of snobery associated with the word mongral, my dogs a mongral, lovely little bitch , couldnt wish for a better little dog, she hasnt had a days illness in the 9 yrs i have had her I brought her home at 4 days old & hand reared her, her mom wouldnt feed the pups, so i offered to have a go & she survived, she wasnt supposed to stay here i was handing her back to the rescue place , but i couldnt part with her after 6 weeks & love her to bits Bess as a pup Bess now
Ossie 11
I brought her home at 4 days old & hand reared her, her mom wouldnt feed the pups, so i offered to have a go & she survived, she wasnt supposed to stay here i was handing her back to the rescue place , but i couldnt part with her after 6 weeks & love her to bits with those eyes, i don't think anyone would have been able to hand her back! my mate's wife has a pedigree standard poodle dog, big black thing. they put him out to stud, he's still not seen a poodle bitch, just labradors! £450 a time stud fee, the pups go for £650!!!he's got 2 sought-after champions in his bloodline, which is why he's so popular as a stud. my mate wants to cross him with a greyhound, combine the poodles' brains, boundless stamina & good coat with a greyhounds' speed. people forget that poodles were bred as gundogs - my mate entered the dog into a gundog scurry for a laugh, he came 8th out of 23 with no training for it! people do pay silly money for crossbred pups, i have friends who spent £250 on an irish water spaniel/shar-pei X pyreneean mountain dog. looks like a collie x lab, but with baggy skin, extra dewclaws, and webbed feet (fits right in in norfolk!) here's where you find the really interesting crosses: hybrid dogs Edited February 13, 2007 by Ossie
macker 5
got a link of one of these hunting sites and it had many breeds crossed with a poodle. first was the most common labradoodle. but then when i looked more into it i went on to say a cross between a weaton and a poodle was called a woodle and this was not even a joke
