Deleting members.

Recommended Posts

you may not think that anything has been done when you have reported something.....but there is a lot goes on behind the scenes that you dont see.

That /\ is exactly what I mean Sean.

I'm sure lot is being done 'behind the scenes', but that doesn't help encourage people to use the report facility when they don't get any feed back.

If action (like editing) is taken, then we can all see that something has been done. What about when the moderators decide to do nothing? Surely it wouldn't be too much to ask that the reporting member is told that no action is going to be taken?

Now before anyone jumps up and down and suggests that I'm over reacting about text talk, please go back and read what I posted earlier.

I'm NOT suggesting that people should be banned or deleted for text talk. I just think that if you are going to ban it, then the moderators have a duty to make sure that action is taken when text talk is used.

I still think that a friendly PM to the poster reminding them that text talk is banned, and giving them a couple of hours to edit the offending post would be a good start. If the member then fails to edit the post, then the moderators should do it for them and issue them with a warning.

As I posted earlier, text talk is just one symptom of the disease that will ultimately kill off this forum completely.

My ban today would be terrier.man. He's a total cock, and not for the first time his posts paint terrier work in a very poor light.   I wouldn't worry about the antis. They, and the authorities ar

Yep.   I'd also like to see the promised crack down on text talk. I often report posts which remain unchanged and you never get any feedback from the moderators.   The moderators are quick enough

who is with me on the following. As we all know OUR sport is on the brink of make or brake. Its a fact this forum amounst others is viewed by anti fieldsports, another fact, some members are TOO op

Didn't Darcy say he was going to ban all the moaning c**ts? And what about folk talking off topic like this one? The topics about hurting our sport by clowns putting up stupid photos. It's not about naming people you don't like or reporting some poor sod cause he uses text talk ff's (deliberate before I get reported lol(and again)) you see we can all remonstrate about what people do that annoys us, it's a public forum!!!

So you don't think that the moderators should enforce all the rules?

I didn't think it was 'off topic'. The whole point is that this forum is not what it was, and lots of decent members have left. Why do you think that is?

Yes, the 'clowns' that post some pictures, and make some statements should be deleted. The problem is that the moderators (with the help of the membership) then need to make sure that they can't re-register using a different name.

The fact is that these people are damaging fieldsports for everyone, especially the next generation. We all know that stuff from here has been copied and often used out of context to promote animal rights. The problem is that there is a faction that just don't care, and never will, and in my opinion, we don't need them and shouldn't give them a platform.

Some of the people who post crap will get the dawn knock at the door; but by then it's too late; the damage is done, the content is copied, and will likely be used against us all when the next big public debate takes place (either when we finally get a repeal, or when the animal rights lobby start pushing for more restrictions).

Yes, I do get cheesed off about the text talk, but what annoys me more is the lack of enforcement of that (and the other) rules.

keep it up mate, you could be the first falling on your own sword lol

Text talk realy boils my piss.I dont even do it on my phone.

Cleared the thread up, two pages of absolute crap, have people got nothing better to do with there time... Lets keep it constructive and on topic.

Any posts that are reported are all looked into, we then either remove or edit them as needed, and mark them as completed. Its time consuming enough without informing the member who reported them as well.

The main problems on here are members posting illegal topics, which make us all look bad, no doubt about it, also people posting complete trash posts, being negative to other members, picking faults at the slightest chance. People should be more helpful and positive with other members especially the youngsters starting out and people new to the sport.

If you have suggestions to improve the site, let us know and the reasons why. All will be taken aboard..

I can't stand text talk or stupid chav spelling: sumfink, lyk, nufink, etc. I read a poster in the doctor's surgery the other day aimed at teenagers. What a load of old bollocks.. Full of chav spelling, text talk and stuff like Kidz = respect.. FFS, what is the world coming too! Talk about patronising..

I've taken to ignoring members who really get on my tits with it, it really helps with the blood pressure! :D

I class common internet abbreviations differently to text talk. It's easier to write 'FFS' instead of 'For f**k Sake' or IMO instead of 'In my Opinion.' Mobile text talk belongs on mobile phones, IMHO! :D

who is with me on the following.

As we all know OUR sport is on the brink of make or brake.

Its a fact this forum amounst others is viewed by anti fieldsports,

another fact, some members are TOO open with threads, comments and photographs!

how about mods either remove the said member or a warning and then gone!

I know its hard to police this as its easy enough to rejoin under another user name etc but then should they be found out to be a once banned member, then they are removed again, and again.........

i think they should be left alone and people like you stop talking senscibley because all the time i have been a member on here the dicks just seem to get away with things

anyway some the posts that have appeared on here have in a roundabout way led to prosecutions in the courts

also some moderators may be in league with certain dicks , i myself have made moderstors aware of certain peoples comments but the mods sided with the wrong do'ers

how would you police those with roving IP addy,s ?such as clint or mastiff or shootlodge ???? ooops there the same person

nough said

I'm not suggesting that the moderators respond to every report; but maybe when they decide not to take any action on a report they could let the reporting member know why. Perhaps the reports would improve then.

I know for a fact that several posts that I've reported for using text talk have remained exactly the same. Now I'm sure the moderators have their reasons for not taking action, and maybe it would help if they let us know.

As I say, I realise that the moderators give their time and they have alot to do to keep the forum free of spammers etc, but what happened to the 'crackdown' on text talkers promised by Darcy? (See earlier quote).

There is no doubt in my mind that there are too few moderators for a forum of this size. That combined with the lack of quality moderators (like JohnB, ChrisJones etc) means that the task must be too heavy.

I could point to at least 6 posts today which should be edited to remove the text talk, and probably another six which have no place on a legal field sports forum. Is there any point in reporting them?

As for the numpties, delete them, ban their IP addresses, and record (in private) as many details as possible. If they re-register then delete them again. Sooner or later they will take the hint and go elsewhere.

I also don't like the fact that some of the more sensitive boards are open for the general public to read. They should be restricted to established members only, and new members and guests should only be able to see the 'general' areas of the board.
