That's an interesting fact tomo. Sorry to hear the bigman has moved on. The term role model gets used freely these days usually to lambast some footballer who has made a clown of himself. But from what I have heard and seen on tv about Henry Cooper, he is a genuine role model. Rip HC and I hope you have eternal piece with your loved ones.

I'm pretty sure he damaged his right wrist pretty bad before he became a pro boxer, which forced him to concentrate on delivering "Enry's 'Ammer" with more power.

Thats right Henry was a left handed person...wrote with his left hand, kicked with his left foot etc...not many people know but he was actually a promising goalkeeper...played for London boys and was on the books of Charlton Fc before turning to boxing.

In todays times Henry would have probably gone a lot further than he did, travelling to America was a no no back then due to the taxes they put on and the agents fees, etc etc....he would also have had surgery meaning he wouldnt have had so many fights stopped on cuts. His brother George suffered exactly the same they just had those sharp features, nothing to do with soft skin like some folk think....today fighters with the same features actually have an operation to shave the bone under the eyebrow to a more rounded profile to stop it cutting so easy....for a man his size Henry had a fantastic punch,in todays times of top notch trainers he would no doubt have been a southpaw which you have to think would have made him a better fighter in general.

Incidentally....i have an old picture of Henry,Len Harvey,Don Cockell and a few others with Rocky Marciano....some of you lads might like it........posting pictures is beyond my technical expertise but if any of you lads would like to post it id be happy to email it to you.
