Pastie 0
I've got a 1st Cross beddy whippet. She stands at 18" @ 18months. Small fields round here so she's a wicked little lamping dog. Great at ferreting too. She marks well but tends to grab the nets when the bunnies hit them and she isn't too keen on letting go. Big rabbits are hard work for her cos she's so titchy but she'll bring them down and wait for me to come to her cos she can't carry them. Would never work her on anything else tho, she's not big enough. I also have a 10 month old Beddy/whippet x champion coursing whippet. Smooth as silk, 21" at the moment, beautiful looking dog but all whippet. She has only recently started working so she's got a lot to learn but is a very promising little dog. Neither will work anything but rabbits although the 3/4 whippet loves snapping rats up. She will chomp through them one after the other but is nicely soft mouthed on bunnies. Beddy/Whippets are hardy, feisty, hard working little dogs that also make loyal and friendly pets. They can be a bit sensitive. I would never work beddy/whippets on anything bigger than rabbits but I can assure you that little B/Ws are just as capable of dispatching bigger prey as any other lurcher, it's just harder work for them and a bit riskier. If you want to course anything other than bunnies I would suggest a slightly bigger, harder dog. Beddy/Greyhound or whippet/bull cross would see you straight there. Cheers Mat Quote Link to post
