davegilly 1
Hi all Ive found that buying am scope form American ebay is a lot cheaper, but there seems to be some laws to do with exportation of scopes out of the country. Has anybody had the same issue? I found this on a site, but im a tad confused 'International Shipping: Several items we are able to ship internationally. Please check each item for availability of international shipping and for pricing. We only ship by USPS Priority/Express International and require payments by PayPal for International Shipments. Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying. Customs fees are normally charged by the shipping company or collected when you pick the item up. These fees are not additional shipping charges. We won't under-value merchandise or mark the item as a gift on customs forms. Doing that is against U.S. and international laws. ' Thanks Dave Quote Link to post

You will be charge between $30 & $60 shipping, this gets added to the total price of the scope, which will effect the import duty you pay and of course the £18 that Royal mail charge to pay the import duty for you. I have imported a good few scopes, all I'm trying to say is just beware that pit falls do exist. John Quote Link to post
dave1372 83
...... as this post can be seen by all and sundry I will be careful how I word this : my understanding is that if an item is being imported into the uk and the customs declaration states that it is being sent here for repair then import duties/tax will not be payable. davegilly 1
How/where do you pay for import duties? You have to go to the Post Office and pick the parcel up and pay for it then? Quote Link to post
dave1372 83
Hopefully this is useful info for you too ; click here hopefully you item is a gift and they mark the customs declaration at a value under £40 or not much over £40 Plenty of suppliers in the US who will be more accomodating than the supplier you mention...shop about and email them the question or get it off ebay. The terr1er 0
Hi, if you want scopes etc at cheap prices, find a friend who travels to Thailand and get them to bring one back. Most scopes are made over there and you will pickup a top of the range scope for peanuts. Quote Link to post
