kiwi 4
oz and nz are two entirely different countries simon, like canada and the states, some pighunters in oz get pulled over and checked by the cops now so a simple ban and crackdown on hunters would be swift and the aussie cops, who are armed i might add don't f**k around, sure the dogging will still go on but they would be in the same boat as you poor bugga's. the hunting of sambur deer with hounds has been through the same shit and now it has new laws and rules bought in by the state govt, the writing is on the wall for our mates over the tasman sea, they need to get organized and tidy the image up before it's too late, nz has always had a strong hunting culture, partly because we where settled by normal folk not crims and our forefathers wanted a country that the average joe public could enjoy the outdoors and not have the best hunting tied up for the weathly, we have a smaller population and the best gun laws in the world. i might add we also have a anti hunting movement here, matter of fact i seen all 8 of them on telly the other nite bitching about something, but the cultures of the two countries are competely oposite in alot of ways, perhaps tomo who has just returned from both countries can explain it better
charlotte hill 0
The one thing that would stop me from taking the plunge is..................My nightmare of a Sister lives there!!!!!! On a serious note, I would say go for it!! Far better to have regrets about something you gave a good shot....rather than regretting never giving it a try in the first place! I have heard positives and negatives from my Sister, the weather, people and general way of life are the positives. Some of the negatives she has encountered have been getting medical assistance and thing's....it's not like just popping in to see your quack over here. Best of luck whatever you decide. DiStuRBeD 0
Kiwi do you think they could enforce a ban on dogging in an area as vast as say Western Australia when it's not being that successfully enforced here. no mate, they could not, and they will not i will never give up hunting, no matter what if i have half a say in it, it wont get to that either where abouts in perth you moving to mate? north, south or east? Guest oldskool
you all paint a sad picture of your homeland then tell me why when you poms move to another country you suddenly get all patriotic again , the pictures i have seen of the uk have been very stunning and i can see why they made nz to look like england. i travel to aussie about three times a year and enjoy the warmer weather etc but reckon the place is getting worse, the place is filling up with asians faster than they can unload the boats, gun ownership is hard and the hunting is not really that easy to get, and the places you can find seem to be 8 hrs drive away. there are good area's in oz and i enjoy my visits everytime but it is not the hunting and fishing eldorado i thought it would be, wages and the cost of living is pretty good though and the reason why so many kiwi's live there. i agree with most of this post here... the place is filling up with asians etc i also found that the place isnt as friendly as what the neighbours programme shows it to be ... city folk were actually friendlier than the outback folk 7 of us went over on working visa's and we all came home sayin it was nice place for a holiday but that's about it... work isnt as easily found either because not only do they not like poms but they didnt like irish either and found us hard to understand there was also a claws in our visa to say that we could only work for the same employer for 3 months, that put a spanner in the work bigtime!!! if you travel inland a bit you will find that your are not welcome there at all... 'fackin poms' they will call you and if you are out numbered and have a pretty wife you will soon find you will be in big trouble mate... after a while the girlfriend and i bought a van and broke away from the pack!!! we had quite a few near misses with the inland folk... to me 'inland' means 'inbreed'... went pig hunting with a couple of b*****ds that only invited me because we were livin in the van and the mrs had to come... i hit one of them and managed to break a finger on his nose... there is a hundred more stories i could tell you about simon and my mates had similar run in's with the aboriginy folk... i wasnt a fan of the place and the other ones we went with felt exactly the same... great holiday but theres no place like home!!! keep in mind that if anything happens and you wont be able to work then you will get feck all help from the gov unless you are there 4 years (i think) and earn your citizenship!! Stabs 3
Maybe they just didn't like you Oldskool My godson went over for the ashes and his mate got sparked out for no reason by a Lebo in Sydney Some of the friendliest people I've ever met have been Aussies, but they have their fair share of pricks, same as everywhere. I wouldn't be put off by country folk saying "facking poms"....shit, if I go to some villages near me in England I get shit for being northern/ginger/hunter/short/ugly...take your f*****g pick

jasper65 6
Its a big move simon thats going to take some bottle! I know a couple of lads who in the past have moved to Canada and loved it until the winter when it hits over -20, the thing is these guys picked up a house with acres of land for well under £100.000 which makes it pretty appealing to me too, The one thing that I would hate is leaving behind family and friends, its a hard decision which would take alot of thought but If I felt it would benefit me Gill and the kids with a much better way of life then I would go for it. I had a email off a mate who moved to NZ last year and he is loving it, this was a snip of the email I received off him a few days ago: I'm now living in a large farmhouse set in about 6acres part of which is a native bush gully. To one side there is a largish pond/lake part of a stream system not sure how big as it seems to run and run. Just eels in there but some enormous ones (eels get to 50lb here)I share this place with flatmates, Mark being a tractor mech actually from Lancashire, John a Chinese/Malasian who leaves at Lake Taupo but spends a couple of nights a week here through work (great guy and into his fishing) Then comes Will or William around 23 and a Kiwi engineer, who's a good laugh. you can keep the uk mate I'm loving it.... Sounds good to me mate , I'm going to see how thing pan out here for me in the uk for the next couple of years, if I'm still struggling I'm off out of it......... Guest JohnGalway
I wouldn't go, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. When you live in the country you were born in you know what the score is, however good or bad. That lets you work around things, but moving to the other side of the globe... From what I read here the hunting doesn't seem all that great. There will be immigrants which seems to be a reason for a lot of people to complain for one reason or another. You will have John Howard. Plus snakes, spiders etc. There also has been a consistant drought in parts there for the last 6 - 7 years. There will be certain laws that you'll only discover when you're out there. Devil you know is better than the devil you don't. my 2 cents anyway. Good luck with what you decide
Guest oldskool
my advice to you mate is go over on a trial basis... i know its easier said that done when you have a good job and all that, but test the water with your boss and see what happens... a 6 month trial will let you see how you get on... before we left there was a lad immigrating with his wife, there was a big street party and everything for him... you would have thought ireland had just won the world cup ... 4 weeks later there was a phone call from heathrow airport for someone to lift them in belfast... he was big strong lad that worked like a horse and he couldnt find work... his mrs only got part time bar work!! some people go and love it but there is an equal amount cant get on their feet and end up regreting it... As said above, the grass is always greener on the other side till you get there...

I'll be staying with my cousin in Kalamunda to start with but living in the hills apeals to me so I may look for a house or some land there. Do you live far from there mate and is there much game in the state forest up there? By the way I hope the fires are all put out now.
rusty 0
ive a cuz in N Z i had,nt seen her in 30 years untill she came over to visit last year she offered to put us up if we were to move there and she offered me a job on a deer farm they were looking to buy (deal fell through though) i,ve never had a passport but i would go tommorow but the mrs won,t due to both mothers being elderly and my mother not being in the best of health, so at the moment it, just a case of waiting. TOMO 26,567
well as some of you know i have just been to both OZ and N.Z loved them both, but the mrs prefered n.z. perth is without dowt the most beautifull city i have ever been to and i hate city's loads of work there and a great lifsyle. now then Adalaide is often called a boring city and that might be so, but again its on the coast and about 2 hours out of there on the road to sydney i saw loads and loads of game for miles and miles. fecking millions of rabbits hares foxes roos , so im afraid that settled it for me . live on the coast at adalaide and find out who the feck owns that land also my mrs just this week went on web site called... prime location . com there are some stunning brand new bungalos £110.000 with 4 beds and 2 baths check them out fecking stunning. N.Z IS FAR MOOR BEAUTIFULL ,but of couse its a very diffrent landscape like kiwi has said hunting is easier . i found out in the gunshop that you can hunt on government land 365 days a year and there is no close season on ferral animals baring in mind that all mammals in N.Z are ferral . loads of deer pigs goat ect . its a tuff call mate but get going wich ever country. just as a footnote here they are calling out for cops in OZ . and western OZ were paying for brits to emigrate getting them acomadation , paying all the cost to relocate, some were doing the training then just leaving after the traing period. that said i think the cops get about $70- .000 a year so good money
