Joe...what fieldsports do you love that you can't do in Australia? you can ferret, do fox, pig, deer, course hare and shoot. They don't have the foxes to ground in the same number as us, but apart from that I don't see a problem.

nz is way cheaper to buy a house in, most poms are mortage free when they arrive after the exchange rate, cars and utes are cheaper and the hunting is sooooooooooooooo much better mate, no snakes or spiders to worry about and don't even get me started on the fishing :clapper:

That sounds good to me.:good:

Stange coincidence,an old mate came into where i work today saying goodbye as he's off to oz with his wife and kids in May. Recently saw a telly programme about emigrating to New zealand which is also a long way away!

The overriding message seemed to be this, make sure you do your homework because moving to the other side of the world is expensive but moving all your stuff back is ten times more expensive.

Someone once told me to wait 12 mths for a life changing idea to go away.If it doesn't....You go for it mate and good luck to you and yours!

I think you should go for it simoman.

I'm moving to Perth next month, sold my flat here and can buy a 4 bedroom house on 1/2acre just 40 minuites from the city with enough state land to get permanently lost within mooching distance :)

Good, welcoming and friendly population and all that lovely sunshine.

I'm going alone and I must say I'm a bit anxious but I look at my options and the state of things here. To live in the countryside would involve hours of motorway driving to get to work every day plus a fair sized mortgage.

Migrants taking over alot of the work on building sites for less wages, not effected sparks yet but it will soon enough.

The countryside either being built on or turned into an adventure playground for the ever growing urban population.

Muslim extremism, forever deterating public services, scroungers and mindless thugs dragging down our society .

If it's such a big undertaking for you to think about then treat it as a two year project, get your dual nationality so you have the option to retire there if you can't settle now and it also gives your kids the option of bolt hole if things get too bad here.

Treat it as an adventure and not a one way ticket, but from what i've seen of the place i'd be surprised to see you come back to old blighty.

Good luck with your decision and I think the longer you take to make it the more difficult it will be to move, we all get more settled with age.

no terrorists. no hunting ban. no blair. no pakis (well not many)say no more!!! what has this country got !! id go myself if theyd have me, but no trade

ever heard about the bali bombing mate- they have howard which is just as bad-plenty of asians that are even worse drivers-and as for the hunting ban, aussie follows mother england like a lamb look at the honest aussie gun owners that had there guns rounded up and destroyed, the bloodsports in oz are in the spotlite, duckshooting has been banned in alot of states and the greenies/spca have long had pighunting in it's sights, i think in a few years dogging anything in oz could be illegal, alot of us kiwi's are leaning on the fence watching our aussie cobbers get shafted, i understand even ferrets have some control measures before the govt now, so just be aware ya might just catch the tailend of the goodlife as far as hunting in oz goes.
