Simoman 110
Ok, i'm after some serious feedback on emmigrating....I'll explain a little about the situation and then maybe you could let me know your thoughts In 2005 we travelled to Western Australia and New South Wales and my wife was offered jobs in both states, not long after she became pregnant so things were put on hold. We are both in our early 30's and my wife is a specialist nurse so we would get across on her visa and for the near future I would have to stop full time employment and look after our two girls, 7 months and 4 years. The bad points are; No friends or family over there Some close family would not come over due to cost/fear of flying Low house prices over there mean if we came back we would struggle to get anything decent. Leave some good friends behind. I do love our country but find legislation becoming more worrying and its crowded. I've just got a lovely truck and would have to sell it I have worked my way to a good job and would have to leave The good points; Great weather Good food Nice people Outdoor lifestyle Great countryside and wildlife Not crowded Cheaper housing Perhaps some ozzie members could tell me a little about the hunting/shooting on offer over there......... Yokel Matt 918
could you release some equity in your uk property, use that to purchse one in Oz, and rent your uk one? I'd love to move out there mate... one life - live it and all that
mad al 146
God Simon , a huge step or what! It'll be interesting to see what our members from down under have to say. What you say about the UK is bang on and like others have said, you are only here the once, but looking at your good/bad points, if you forget about the weather, have you considered re-locating in the UK? I remember showing my Dad some shots I'd taken up in Brecon Beacons, about fifty miles from us. He was really impressed with the countryside, when he asked what country had I been to, this made me appreciate what we have here. That said, I could never live in a city, travel vast distances to work and if I did have to do this, then I would be gone. Don't know if this helps but good luck with your decision..........Al

I live at the edge of a small town that is surrounded by countryside yet still spend 2 1/2 hours a day driving too and from work. The thing about Oz is that the entire lifestyle is outdoor orientated, bbq's at the beaches, clean parks, outdoor pools, miles of beaches, deserts, forest..................... Stabs 3
It is a big decision mate and it's especially hard for you as my other half is Australian so I have something to go to so to speak. I went up home to Durham for the last time this weekend and said my goodbye's and that was difficult, but the world is a small place and I'm going to be coming back all the time anyway. Me and our lass want to start a family soon and I don't want them growing up where we live now. I live in a two up two down terrace with main roads all around me and pikeys roaming the streets. When you have the windows open at night in the summer you just get woken up by the drunks coming home at all hours. I fret that my dogs won't be there when I come home and the work I do with dogs is now illegal. I've got pals out there though from the army days and hunting pals too. I haven't got a job to go to though so I'll have to get my arse in gear.As people have said mate, you only live once..... Saw a lovely property the other day....3 double bedrooms on 10 acres of woodland and for the same price as my terrace! A few kennels out back would set it off a treat. Soon as I land I'm going to be on the look out for a pup....now then, kangaroos or pigs?
