moderator problems

i bought my .222 a few years ago off my cousin and the mod has never been taken off so i tried to take it off for the first time bt it seems very tight any ideas how i can get it off without damaging the gun or mod cheers.

I done the same and the only way was HOLD TIGHT AND TURN! I was lucky my crown was still in tact, so the sooner you get it off the better. It's easier to have two people, one to hold one to twist.

Classic error - all moderators should be taken off, cleaned & oiled after ever use. I keep mines in a lightly oiled cloth and the barrel slightly lubricated with silicon grease. Comes off and on with no problem.

 

Reason I do this is a friend of mine (a gunsmith) showed me the results of a seized on T8 moderator. - not nice !

SOAK IN WD40 LEAVE A COUPLE OF HOURS COVER IN CLOTHE PUT IN VICE JUST TIGHT ENOUGH TURN GENTLY UNTIL IT GETS LOSE DID THIS FOR A MATE IT WORKED WELL ATB J316

Your barrel will have rusted ! Thread deffo, crown proberbly and hopefully not inside the barrel.
