Whilst out ferreting today i noticed one of my jills vulva has started to swell, Ive herd from people that if not mated with or bought out of season they will die, but i have also been told that this is bollocks and they will be fine! Its just this is my first too jills and i dont want them dying on me! What is the best to do ?

If you dont want to breed find someone with a vasectomised hob to run with her, or get her to the vets for a jill jab (hormone injection) either method will keep your options open for future years :) you basically want the swelling to go down & it a pain in the backside

the reason this * rumour * is about so much isnt because they will die due to them not been mated , its due to the vulva been exposed to infections with it been swelled up . hence the reason its best to get it back to normal asap .

Thanks i think ill go with the jill jab!! you have any idea how much this costs? Cheers

If you dont get the jab or the snipped hob just make sure the bedding is kept clean, they,ll probably be a bit off for a week or two but they should be ok, mine just lost abit of weight and put it back on and they were fine, i used to give them a tonic called collavet, its just pick me up, i,ve used it on horses, dogs, birds etc. :victory:
