Cameron Burns 1
ok so heres how it happened: a couple of weeks ago i was out with my ferrets just for a look about (nothing serious) just checking a coupleof burrows and i noticed a couple of burrows in an adjoining site, they looked active so i went to inquire, no the site in question was a mine rescue training centre and the rabbits were actually digging on top of the training tunnels. Anyway i went inside sporting camos and wellies, and spoke to a secreatary who went and spoke to a guy named dale who took me into a board room with the head boss and i had to exxplain ferreting and my intentions, now ihad went inhere thinking the health and safety would by too risky reply but instead the guy started telling me how much of a nuisance the rabbits were as they were digging up the ornamental gardens and even though when i first said i didnt want paid for it he still offered me £30 to get rid of his rabbits,i got a tour and got to work, taking 5 rabbits that day in half as many hours including recon time on the burrows. i was totally shocked at getting paid for it, the only bummer is i cant go until september, as they made it clear no digging or shooting. damn the baby bunnies. pics will be posted later Quote Link to post
Guest cookiemonsterandmerlin
I no I use to find it hard to belive that I could get paid for ferretting but my list of paying clients is growing year on year . I performed ferretting on 3 estates all paying good money egnough to pay my way from november to febuary. The thing is with the cost of wheat/barley reaching new heights rabbits can do alot of damaged in pound notes the farmers cant ingnore the damage like they use to. And to perform effective reducation of rabbits its a full time job which in turn they have to pay for. As most user of ferrets do it soley as a hobbie on weekends which catching 30 rabbits a weekend it never going reduce the numbers . So full time pro pest services are needed I charge £500 a week for my services and that cheap in our area one company charges £2000 a week for there services. Cheers Cookie Quote Link to post
