Private Gun/Gear Sales - !!POTENTIAL SCAM!!

Recommended Posts

The whole admin team from airgunforum.co.uk came over to this site to expose him. I compiled a list of IP addresses, usernames, locations, facebook pages, email addresses, etc that linked him to two other conmen, that he then claimed he didn't know, and had it forwarded to the airgun section mods on here, but no action was taken. In reality, if notice had been taken of us back then, he would have not had the chance to do it again. He is banned from every other major airgun forum in the UK but this one. As long as he can find somewhere to sell his imaginary stuff, he will continue to con people out of their hard earned cash.

He needs completely exposing, banning from all forums (not just airgun related), taking to court to repay everybody he has ripped off, then a bloody good arse kicking to make sure he knows we won't take any more of his crap.

You cannot blame the moderators for someone ripping someone else off. If you choose to pay by anything other than paypal then you are risking being ripped off by little snakes such as the lad in question. As soon as i saw that 'my daughters been ripped off, she's in tears, etc' i knew he was a shithouse. If we ban someone, even their IP address then they will just re register under a different name. Banning is not the cure.

Scamming is on the increase, protect yourself, use paypal.

I say this with the greatest amount of respect, but he has repeatedly tried to re-register on airgun forum, but we keep nailing him. Usually before he has even managed to make a single post. Banning works for us, so fail to see why it wouldn't help in this situation.

Again, I say this with the utmost respect. We all run our forums diferently. I presented enough proof to confirm he was a scammer, but no action was taken. The same info was submitted to other forums, and all of them banned him outright.

Well, OK, send me a pm when the rat pops his head up and i shall endevour to get rid of him..... :victory:

You are failing to note that it was DavyT who validated H1989 publically when this first came up on here.   This is internet land, how do we know that DavyT wasn't involved, simple, we don't! If Dav

Oly, he has done the exact same thing before. When chased, he claimed to have sent the money by recorded mail, but later fessed up that he hadn't on this very forum. That thread has long been deleted, but I am 99.99% certain he is trying to get away with it again. You do right by continuing with the legal route.

And I do believe that the PO was indeed closed. After all, if anybody is going to take a day off for a royal wedding, ROYAL MAIL would!

J Darcy, next time I find out he has a new username on a forum, I will let you know his email addy, IP address, etc. Only way forward in getting rid of scum is to have a zero tolerance.

Just spoken to Steve who has said that he posted £300 cash via royal mail's "signed for" service yesterday Friday 29th April. Apparently there is no tracking number service.

I must admit to still being wary - as Friday was the public holiday...weren't Post Offices shut? Can anyone confirm/deny this, and whether the "signed for" service has tracking numbers? I thought it did - as you can view the signature online...but I hope to be proved wrong.

At the end of the day I'll simply be happy when the money is either in my hand or in my bank account. Until then I'm not getting my hopes up and carrying on as advised by the Police and Consumer Direct - formal letters to those involved being sent on Tuesday (next postal day) requesting the rifle and/or full refund to be received within 7 days - after that, court summons.

Of course it has a tracking number! I just sent a Crosman Pistol down to Oxford 1st class signed for and it uses a tracking number! Otherwise how the hell can you check if it has been signed for? More Massey Ferguson I fear! However ask him for the barcode number from the receipt, it will be a mix of 13 numbers and letters! If he says there is not one he is lying. quite simple, get him to scan and email you the receipt!

Has anyone been through the small claims courts before? Doesn't look too difficult - especially on a clear cut case such as this - but some advice may be worthwhile.

Just checking out the process - http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/ManagingDebt/Makingacourtclaimformoney/DG_195812

Looks like the costs can start escalating for the defendants!

Claiming costs if you win

As well as the amount you’re asking for you might be able to claim:

  • any court fees you have paid
  • up to £260 for legal advice for some claims
  • loss of earnings for you and any witness (up to £50 a day)
  • travelling and overnight expenses

This will all be collated and formal proceedings will start to get sent out on Tuesday (next working day).

Steve & David Graham have my phone number and bank account details if they would like to contact me/return the money quickly (i.e. before Tuesday).

Many thanks, I have quite a lengthy list of details, other people's experiences etc now, it's all worthwhile having!

I am setting up a meeting with the Police to hand over all this information. If anyone else out there has had any similar dealings with these people please send me your contact details asap as a cumulative case would be beneficial.

I have a retired lawyer in the family for advice, but if anyone on here is an active lawyer - fancy some work?

Like I say - Steve & David Graham have my phone number and bank account details if they would like to contact me/return the money quickly (i.e. before Tuesday).

You are failing to note that it was DavyT who validated H1989 publically when this first came up on here.

This is internet land, how do we know that DavyT wasn't involved, simple, we don't! If DavyT can get it so wrong, then why would / should anyone trust your validation of anyone else.

DavyT spoke up for H1989 and was threatening and abusive toward me, albeit after a bottle of wine (I was dead scared until the next day when he revealed himself to be a chardonnay gangster).

I'd say that your man DavyT has nailed his flag to the wrong mast and must now shoulder the responsibility for that.

"Embarrassed"? He f.ucking wants to be too, if he'd thought before posting what a great guy H1989 was then this thread wouldn't be here!
