should a dog man appreciate all types????

Prejudice is rife where ignorance rules. Once upon a time, long before I had anything to do with Saluki lurchers, I too believed they were untrainable, and only fit to run hares off a slip. You see, that's what I had always heard. It's a sad fact that those who shout loudest are often those with nothing but sh*t to say.

thats so very true

:notworthy:

The saluki is often my favourite bit of the running dogs make-up. :notworthy: And as for untrainable, well, I have a 100% sightblooded hound here that knows the full curriculum, sit, blind stay, perfect retrieves (fur and feather), jumps, stock broken et al.......We are together working on a little video for Utube. And, unlike the legends that always seem to be in the past, this dog is in the present. Problem being...He's an anti! :D Or a vegan. :D

I appreciate all types of working dogs its all types of owners i dont.

You ever noticed the biggest experts in all walks of life are the spectators? Doesn't matter what your doing, someone watching will know how you can improve. I've lost count how many times I've been fishing and someone walking a fat lab will ask if I've caught anything. Even if I say none to 4 dozen he'll still tell me to use such and such fly, it's deadly!!!

I know that Whin, i rate a dog on what he catches and how he catches it......Single handed. The training is just the cherry. I would not keep a dog if it wasn't responsive to me, no matter how good a hunter it was. We've got to hunt as a team.

Not ALL dogs can be 'good' and the one i have isn't. That's me being honest.

im the opposite if it cant hunt its gone training is a bonus

Surely the training is instilled in a pup long before you know if it can hunt or have I been doing something wrong lol :tongue2: too many give up on a dog too quick.

meaning if it lacked in some areas of training and can hunt id put up with it as its a hunting dog after all not a field trialer, all i do is recall run the beam and encourage it to hunt up and mark for me sometimes recall suffers at night after you have been encouraging the dog to hunt up but id rather the hunting up an look past hedges rather than stop at a hedge then come back to me
