At the other side of the argument I know 2 people who were jailed for very, very serious crimes, both were unjustly treated by the courts imo.

Its a very dodgy area, The "paedatrician" post proves that there are too many thick, unintelligent halfwits willing to make a lynch mob over a rumour.

I think rather than take the law into your own hands, the emphasis should be on the courts and judges handing out punishments befitting the crimes.

I cant see a problem with someone shooting a burgular, from the back, front or side on, if more people shot burgulars less people would break into houses to thieve

So if your son got in with the wrong crowd and ended up tagging along with an older lad to a shitty rundown farm to nick a few bits you wouldnt have a problem with him being shot and killed for it....because thats what happened.

Lets not make out like nicking a few bobs worth of crap deserves the same punishment as some of the sick disgusting crimes we see.....or maybe your really really ruthless, one of these " dont mess with me types " :whistling:

Aye, maybe we should spend less time arguing and talking about lynching folk and work on turning our 'legal system' back into a 'justice system'. Some one i know is a solicitor, he spends everyday getting folk he knows for a fact have committed the crime, off the charges. How the f**k can you do that shit and still happily send your kids off out into the world..

think some people forget that their own kids or wee brothers or any member of thier family can quite easily get involved with the wrong crowd or just turn bad themselfs.never broke into anyones house in my life and wouldnt, but i was certainly no angel when i was younger.as i said before that tony martin fellow was not all there.

If we wernt so soft on crime and criminals we wouldnt have young kids breaking into other peoples homes and property, its the fact that there are no real deterrents these days thats why we have so many criminals commiting so many crimes, no petty criminal is going to risk getting shot for a few quid or some old dears tv

I agree but you gotta keep it realistic....i mean if a petty thief deserves death....what does a child killing rapist deserve ?...you cant kill him twice !!

disagree mate,if someone is desperate to rob you they will regardless of the deterrent.you only have to look at the death penalty in the states or the 3 strike rule they have.if i was awoken one night and was faced with some teenager robbing my telly do you think i would be justified killing him over a poxy f*****g telly?

Dont have to die just cos they been shot, I know in reality we're not going to start shooting petty criminals but I'd bet there would be a massive reduction in crime if it was an option.

the flip side to that is they break into your house carrying a shooter.and there we have chaos

Yer, look at America. The idea that if you tool people up, then crime will fall, is completely wrong. Crime will ALWAYS exist in some form, and like you say, if some desperate f****r is going to rob you and he knows you have a hand gun, he's gonna bring a shotty.
