Had a phone call today to attend a property with bed bugs, After talking to the home owner they told me they had called the one big firm who I think every one knows, Rent a Pill or something and had been Quoted Three visits at £350 . with out them even going out to the house to see how big the problem was! Correct me if I am wrong in what I do but I was tought to make a survey and then discuss with the client what treatment is needed etc and price.And the survey is free.

350 for 3 visits is not too bad the question I would be asking is why 3 visits I clear most bb's in one this is something I specialise in and do bb's all over the country. I take on the jobs other pest controllers can't get on top of. Only last week I was advising one of the larger pest control companies what to do with large infestation that they had been treating for a year with little success.

I hear what you are saying, but if it was the whole house that needs doing three times then to me the price is too low for me, but if it was just one room then the price of £350. is a lot more than i would charge for one room and three visits. Don't know if they meant £350. per visit?

so your unsure of what the price was for, yet you'll still happily slag them off

Ill agree with you in that their prices are normally way above what the little firms charge, but theres the difference, little firms can and will always charge less and mostly, do a more thorough job

the bigger firms make their money from the large corpratives, that want the name and brand, where talking millions here, not £'ssss

Can't see where the slagging of bit is or is it that if any person mentions another firm or their price that counts. Whats in the name and brand of a company who thinks they know how big the pest problem that some one has from the end of a phone is beyond me and not very professional at all, if that's how you make millions then I guess a lot of pest controllers on here were trained wrong. That's the problem with a lot of big firms in many industries they rely on there name and brand to cover the bad bits up for them, but their is a lot more firms starting to use local small business as a big brand name means F*ck all when they shop about and get better service and price for what they need.

the slating I was reffering too, was your moaning at their prices, yet were unsure of what their prices actually covered

and surely, the fact that they are high on prices is in your favour, as you got the job

 

as for staff and there training, my training was via a firm called predator everything top notch, in the course of 4yrs the contract I work on has passed through many different companies, yet we get carried over included in "the contract", so now, yes I work for the firm you mention, yet trained and payed totally differently to normal staff, so dont tar us all with the same brush
