bull x patts

Recommended Posts

At the end of the day most working terriers have bull blood in them of some persentage from years back. There's nothing wrong with a bullx some are good steady diging dogs and most work to a very high standard.I seen some great bullxrussells work in my time and i have a bullxpatt at the minute which is a very usefull little dog.As far as hard goes people differ on their opinions on hard,as long as they stay till dug thats what matters.Nobody wants a dog that goes in fights its quarry for 20 minutes and comes out in a mess.I have owned and seen black dogs that were a lot more stuped than any bullx i ever had. Some people dont like them but why critisize them when they dont work them, thats the same as me saying russells or patts are no good without bull blood in there make up.Everyone to their own.JMHO.

I think it's a question that couldn't be answered with a percentage number, or with yes or no.

How many Terriermen use their dogs day by day below to the fox? There are more who use their dogs only at the weekends and on various quarry, from marten to wild boar.

I have seen some fantastic Bull-X Patterdales on wild boar, but I don't think that a pure earthdog needs Bull-blood.

Every hunter I have talked about dogs, has told me a different opinion what he prefers. And most of them weren't objective talking about their dogs or disparage the dogs of the others.

It's very individual what kind of dog you prefer, so everybody has to answer the question about Bull-blood for himself.

i have found that paterdales are a nuff of a dog to do what i wont to do ! . if you keep puting bullx to every dog you can dont moan in years to come when all you can find is bullx .keep the dogs as they should be a working terrier NOT A WORKING X TO WHAT EVER IS AROUND AT THE TIME

We dont just breed from what ever is about. The patterdale dog we used was about 9 year old and tried and tested to a very high standard week in week out not just an odd dig here and there. The staff bitch was also well tried an as ive said before on here was dug to on several occasions being she is only a small bitch but very game.Just look at a lot of the black dogs been bred today with big bully heads on them and say there is no bull blood in them. With selective breeding there is noting wrong with the bullx, there's plenty of shite been bred with patterdale's at the minute from people breeding just because the dog or bitch has a famous name behind them.Keep it worker to worker no matter what the breeding and there's a better chance of geting a worker from the outcome.A young chap came to me only yesterday eve looking for a service.I had a black dog there that had done noting and he said thats the dog he liked. When i asked why he said he liked the look of him, never once asked did the dog work, needless to say he got gate, heard this morning he put a kc reg lakey that has never been in a field across the bitch. They will be in donedeal in a couple of months advertised as workers, more shit outdare.
