You dont miss what you dont have. I think having to live on very little makes you far more sensilbe when you do eventually start earning better money

£8 an hour for a 17yr old is good money mate.in fact thier family men i know who work for less an hour.

A man is rich in proportion to what he can do without.

Another good thing about farming is the work can be applied worldwide.

I have pleanty of pals who graft here all summer then go to OZ/ Newzealand for the winter and have a ball whilst earning a fair bit of cash.

Good life if its what you want.

All the best anyway whatever you decide fieldsportsman.

the more you got the more you spend

Exactly. Some people are no better off with twice as much as the next man because they live too extravagantly.

What you got in mind fieldsportsman?

well, im 17, but i want to go to college and get a degree in iether conservation or agriculture, had a quick flick through, saw some manual labour jobs on a farm, paying out about £8 an hour, obviously there were more advanced jobs on farms eg managers etc, paying out about 30k a year

£8 an hour in Cornwall is loads. Nearly everyone here is on minimum wage with husband and wife working 40+ hours a week then they are expected to pay £1200 a month for rent.

college and uni are wank, pointless having all the grades when theres no jobs, might aswel of just gone on the dole for few years like every other c**t :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

But works short for unskilled folks as well as skilled at the moment.. at least if you have some skills when jobs pick up you will have a better chance of finding work

i chose to have kids & stay at home when they were little.. but now I am struggling to find work because i didnt train when i was younger .. but it would give me the slight upperhand if i had trained in some trade or other when the jobs situation picks up .. so i dont think training is a complete waste of time

Works always easier to find if you are carefree and have no ties. As soon as you start to introduce kids, bills, ortgage etc etc it narrows down your choice considerably.

There is any amount of work out there for a youngster with no commitments and not shy of graft. Fact.

It's a f****r. Lets face it we would all like to buy a big chunk of land out in the sticks, but whenever a farm comes up for sale, its immediately eyed up by those from the city who want to convert the barn into a house and sell it off, and sell off bits of the land. The dream of living the goodlife is getting harder, you need to win the lotto, just to buy your cottage and live off the land. . . . . what a joke.

GET THAT POLY TUNNEL UP SON! :big_boss:

IMO money isnt the most important thing in life, it just helps.

As long as your comfortable and happy doing what your doing then what more can you ask for.

Lifes to short to spend it shiting yourself about the next loan repayment.

Get out there and do a bit with the dogs and enjoy it while you can
