Just because it is called Hunting Life doesn't mean that people who don't hunt cannot buy dogs/puppies off here and yes there really are some ghastly people on here  I have three lurchers all of whom have a wonderful life, warmth with a sofa to lie on at night when they have had their blast round the fields and their bellies are full, well cared for ..... being a lady I won't be too rude but the second word is .....off!!

If I want to home a lurcher off here and someone was kind enough to worry about where his dog went (and he still keeps in touch to see how she is) I will!!!!!

well see thats where we will have to agree to disagree, the clue is in the name sweety.........

if i had my way, no dogs or animals would be sold on here, an the reason is partly cos people like yourself, will happily buy in failures, an when they breed them they will advertise the pups, an as ye have already stated that a dog shouldnt go free, ye will advertise an charge for the pups, that chances are some young lad/lassie will be wanting to work, an will probs end up wae shite..............

why not buy yerself a teacup rat like most lassie's..........

Well lucky for my dogs (one of who came from a Greyhound Rescue) they are all neutered as I think there are far too many lurchers/greys being passed from pillar to post and bred from to make an easy buck. They are all also chipped and insured. I am a RESPONSIBLE dog owner not an idiot.

I don't think this sounds a bad dog at-all,- I often get asked to rehome dogs that are said to be no use. One in particular was brought to me, the lad saying it won't even chase rabbits,- a few months with a mate of mine, getting fit and brought on properly, that dog was taking everything, and was perfect among stock.

Several dogs like this, have turned out to be great dogs, that i know of.

My own dog knows if there is no chance of a catch, he will not put his all into a run on it.

The drive just needs to kick in, given time.

I have a mate who is trying to get rid of his bitch for the same reason, i told him to wait and see. i had one where it would not work till it was 18 month. He got stolen at 4 month, dint get him back til he was 12 month and the time he was away he did nothing at all and he came good very good infact but if you dont believe in the dog then getting rid is best really.

if this dog or any other dog is no good put it down and stop being so soft and sentimental.its a fact of life that they don't all make it.if ye keep rubbish ye will never have space for good ones.and as for keeping slow starters 2 years plus, waste of time, the good ones normally have to be held back instead of encouraged.

NO I am not on here to buy dogs - but hopefully to save any that can be saved from the barbarians who would just shoot them cos they won't work  If someone like Mat does not have any option and has tried all avenues, I would always try and help to rehome it. The offer still stands that I would take the bitch until a suitable home could be found.

To the people that call me sweetie and lassie - dont be so :censored: patronising

Hi did leave you a pm on here and also on Lurcherlink where you have asked for help in finding a home. Lurcherlink removed my post - so much for help!! If you let me have some more details on this bitch I may have someone who could be interested in her. I need to know if she is trainable to live with a cat and another dog. If you get this maybe you could pm

to be fair mate i have given this bitch many chances to come good but she will never make the standard i expect.a good dog will go nuts to get to its quarry and need to be held back at an early age not encouraged untill its i dont know how old hoping it may have a personality change.all those with a first class rabbit dog will know this.ive had them in the past.this does not mean im gonna shoot the bitch though.i took responsibility for her when i paid my money and put her in the car and il do my very best to see she gets a good life.trouble is i am a lone hunter.i dont know any other lurcher people really so picking a dog is a pure lottery.next time i get one though i want to see parents working.dont care how long i have to look.the land i hunt requires blistering speed and of coarse the willingnesss to pussh on that extra yard.think im gunna go for a sal/whip/grey or something simalar.anyway happy hunting pal an sorry for going on a bit.atb.mat

Hi

Glad to hear you are not thinking of shooting her and am pleased you are looking carefully at homing her. As she is not interested in quarry do you think she would adjust to living with a cat or other dogs (I'm assuming she lives on her own) as there is someone I know who is thinking of taking on either a greyhound or lurcher and I will tell her about Bess.
