There's thousands of acres of forests and it is absolutely heaving with deer. My lurcher is a bull/grey x wheaten/whippet/grey is probably only going to make 22 tts, max 23 tts....is she going to be able to handle deer at that size on her own?? I'll be getting another dog early next year and before now was thinking I'll just be getting something to use for bushing rabbits back home but we're here so often that I'm thinking of scrapping that idea and getting something more suited to tackling the deer over here! might be wrong but isnt the forestry blocks in poland state owned? You're not! But that is no bad thing Just got to know who to 'speak' to. Quote Link to post
lofti 579
my mrs is Polish we go over a few times every year, the amount of deer, fox and hare over there always amazes me they are everywhere,i have yet to see a wild rabbit and am lead to believe they are almost extinct. Shooting is very big over there and it is definitely illegal to hunt with sight hounds, Quote Link to post

What is legal / illegal and what happens is different, just like here matey Although to be fair my experiances are a long the Slovak border rather than in central poland. Quote Link to post
riohog 5,799
The Protection of Wild Mammals (Scotland) Act and the Hunting Act 2004 (in England and Wales) made it illegal to course hares under any circumstances or to course rabbits without the landowner's permission. In Australia coursing is illegal under common law [1]. In some countries such as Ireland, Poland, Spain, Russia and in parts of the USA coursing hare is legal. Quote Link to post

Most never get to see them. Ferrets will fetch good money there. Strange that, and it doesn't make sense, but I have seen ferrets passed over in exchange of 60 euros plus. That is the norm there. Just try and take their ferrets and see what happens! Quote Link to post

My dad always told me that coursing hares were illegal over here in aus, but hunting them with sighthounds certainly isn't. You can hunt rabbits, hares, foxes, pigs, goats, deer (in some places) with sighthounds. It's funny over here how they say you can't course stuff but you can hunt it for pest control. bullmastiff 615
There's a fair few European countries that have made it illegal to run a sighthound on anything, and in some it's illegal to even have them off a lead . They must be muzzled and kept on a lead when outside.... Saying that their is some cracking places to hunt in Europe and this year thats exactly what I'm doing! Tess has her passport sorted, just got to get mine renewed and were off!!! Quote Link to post
