hi does anyone no of any hunting trips or website were they go out with the dogs hunting for example in poland or similar area.

You can take dogs to plenty of places if you get them a pet passport, google it and theres a list of countries. It costs about £150 per dog and you have to keep up the rabies jabs or it runs out and you have to start again.

 

I think theres plenty over there to hunt, everything we've got plus some and alot more space and less laws. Sounds like a good idea to me

Certain parts of eastern europe are very 'open' to hunting with dogs. A couple of countries in particular, if you go about it the right way, you could head there at the right time of year and chase hares till your feet bled, no problems and no hassle, and another is over run with the red fellas. O and there is another good area where you are drowning in deer.

I actually wondered about this a wee while ago. I know a bunch of guys who go abroad 2/3 times a year shooting. They stay in a cabin for a few days at a time and enjoy their sport in another setting. Would it be possible to do this with dogs? Yeah passport and jabs needed but it doesn't seem too out of the way - does it? Anyone had any experience of this? Be good to hear about it.

My partner is polish so we go to poland 5 or 6 times a year. Seen loads of deer, hares and rabbits and there are vast areas of countryside with nothing around for miles. Getting the rabies jab for my pup next week so she can come with us at the end of the year, I can go hunting then while them lot are cooking, polish people are obsessed with cooking!!!

 

You get the rabies jab and then they have a blood test 3 or 4 weeks later, you get the full passport 6 months after that date.

 

France is another place that'd be good I reckon, I drove to the South of France a couple of years ago and the place is just mile after mile of countryside. Again, loads of deer and rabbits knocking about but quite a few wild boar aswell so you'd have to be a bit careful (depending on what dogs you've got!).

I'm in Poland at the moment, been having a drive around over the last few days looking what quarry is out there ready for when my lurcher comes with us in December (when rabies jab/passport etc. is sorted). There's thousands of acres of forests and it is absolutely heaving with deer. My lurcher is a bull/grey x wheaten/whippet/grey is probably only going to make 22 tts, max 23 tts....is she going to be able to handle deer at that size on her own?? I'll be getting another dog early next year and before now was thinking I'll just be getting something to use for bushing rabbits back home but we're here so often that I'm thinking of scrapping that idea and getting something more suited to tackling the deer over here!
