Ideation 8,216 Posted April 25, 2011 Report Share Posted April 25, 2011 Without being funny and i don't want to get in the way of any 'my dogs the dog and i'm the big man' egos, but there is a bit of a difference between the dog knowing who is boss and the idea of locking the dog in the house on its own for 11 hrs a day 5 days a week minimum. They are different things in my opinion. i keep mine in the house and if circumstances dictated that i had no one to look in on the dog and the alternative was to lock it in the house for 11hours,then sadly i would have to part company with the dog.thats not ideal situation for both you and mainly the dog. Maybe for your age, aye, but like most things (probably more so), as much as a lot has to do with who you are as a person. . . . . . you aint gonna beat the person who is the 'right' type of person AND has been doing it forty years. Aaron_butcher 17 Posted April 25, 2011 Author Report Share Posted April 25, 2011 if your working 12 hour shifts you will have the doe for a kennel and run in no time I only do 9 hour shifts but more often than not the work isnt on my doorstep (bricklayer) so thats the average amount of time id be away i think. im not saying that i HAVE to move out right away and i HAVE to leave the dog on its own all day. im just looking into my options as i would like to move out in the near future. if circumstances dont allow me to move out and keep the dog then ill be staying at home for now so my mum is about for most of the afternoon until something that is better suited pops up. Also, in reply to some of the earlier posts my dog does things when i want, he has no set routine other than he gets 2 walks per day at a time of my choosing. Ta, Aaron. But if i did so for 11 hrs each day in the house, i'd soon be scraping up dog shit from places i'd rather not, and i generally reckon they would go a bit mental out of the boredom. I think finding dog shit everywhere depends what your feeding .. a raw diet will almost certainly lessen that problem if not eliminate it .. over a processed diet where again depending what type you feed Quote Link to post Share on other sites
