WILF 47,215
Is the ardex shite then?........I need to re-do my kennel floors soon, any good products that will coat the top of the smooth concrete, fill the one or two small craters and last? Quote Link to post
mackel 31
have my pens done with industrial floor paint two coats one with a resign and one extra coat of colour its rock hard when dry. its very slippy when wet and a night mare to put down the reason i put it down was in case i ever got parvo again it would not soak in to floor and come back again worked for me. not sure if i would put it down again and any pen will smell at some stage wilf the stuff i used is down six years now and is still the same as new no dog will damage it mack Edited April 25, 2011 by mackel Quote Link to post
spud123 14
let the new concrete dry out for a week, then put a weak mix of brick acid and water over and leave for a few mins, this takes the shine of the concrete, then wash of with plenty of clean water and leave to dry completley, then it will take any floor paint and will last for ever, hope this is any good to u bud Quote Link to post

the_stig 6,614
look at 2 pack epoxy floor paint -- or industrial floor paint on the net ... avoid standard concrete floor paint .... all floors paints are slippy when wet dont bother with anti slip useually has to have a grit mix into it ... i`ve avoided painting mine -- been down 6 year and still fine the lads that put the base in used some concrete hardener .. ?? baldockbanks courser 598
Amongest other titles ( tree surgeon, landscaper, drive way cleaner etc ... ) I lay decrotive concrete drives. I made my pens with stencil couler concrete floors sealed with a zylene based sealer. I mite as well not have bothered as for the last few years iv put saw dust that I get free from a fencing yard on the floor so you cant even see the fancy finnish. I find the smell is so much better the dogs feet are dry and apart from the occasional bit of sh*t to pick that dosent disapear in it and a change every week or two of the saw dust its the best system by a mile. Sealed or unsealed concrete always reeks of pi*s unless you hose it 20 times a day. Quote Link to post
fatlad 250
ive always used blockpaving sealant to water proof concrete its cheap enough ,i seal it every few months works out very cheap just paint it on with a roller.i know marshalls put animal fats in there blockpaving as a sealant to stop them being porous and cracking in heavy frosts Quote Link to post
sweeper 156
I prefer flagged bases with a 2 inch gap pointed with a strong mix obviously the flags you use make a difference just repoint them every couple a year and they should be sound regards Quote Link to post

SPOTTY BACKED BIG RACK 90
Never had anything else but concrete bases for my runs, battles black kills any smell of piss for days. I swill with water daily and use a floor squeegy to get excess water down the drains so they dry quicker. Have had a bit of bother with concrete lifting the last couple of winters with the ice and snow but I put that down to using cheaper grade sharp sand and gravel from the local quarry!!!! Chester what is granite skim? Quote Link to post
