new concrete dog run

Recommended Posts

i have just poured a new base in one of the dog runs as the last one broke up dew to the last cold spell :wallbash: .

i had painted the last one with floor paint having to repaint at least twice a year but it just comes back up in sheets after a a while with the daily washing out . this time i am leaving the concrete to cure for a week before i paint it

was thinking of using a product called reno seal http://www.renotex.co.uk/reno_seal.php has anyone used this to seal their concrete dog runs?. atb chester

Bloke i knw that has a very large kennel block has his painted out in epoxy paint. Not cheap i think he said about £90 a tub but lasts

reading into it this product is resin based the same as epoxy and round about the same price

dew to the way my setup is a power float would not get into / up tight to the walls. so would not be completely sealed.

concrete absorbs urine /water and with the bad weather we bin getting in the winter the moisture freezes and thaws braking the concrete up. plus looks better painted

Concrete soaks up urine? Ive never had a peoblem, if cleaned every day and discenfected oncr a week shouldnt be no problems. Get yourself some self leveler and make it just a little bit thicker works a trat and is very water tight.

cocncrete is extremely porous and ideally needs sealing.Same to with tiles, anyone thinking of tiling a kennel floor only use porceline.Normal red/white bodied clay is to porous and quarry tiles are not worth asking about :wallbash: .Sealing your kennel with a resin/epoxy based sealer will help the piss stop soaking in and help prevent the dogs smelling if cleaned and disinfected regulary.
