what the best dog you use when ferreting

anyone use a spaniel ?

 

 

I will use a spanniel and a lab if im out my self it saves taking them out when i get home but there no a patch on the lurcher

i know what your saying (the one ) i use a couple of beddy/ whippets at the moment but i never hear of anyone useing their spaniels for bushing/marking whilst ferreting .i,mthinking ahead to my next dog who i,d like to use for ferreting/shooting etc. cheers plum !

There are a lot of dogs that go ferreting but not so many actual ferreting dogs. Some dogs just have an kack for it others never get it.

i have two dogs that go ferreting one a plummer terrier and the other a whippet/terrier cross.

 

 

 

definately much more fun with the dogs.

i use my mates spanial to mark the rabbits in she's a good little marker to saves a lot of messing around netting empty holes sometimes take the lurcher but not often.

cant remember when that was jamie. but i do pest jobs all year round. have one just now thats a faeckin pain. if the lad had phoned two months ago it would have been a good number now its just a pain in the arse. i dont like hunting in the summer

in a word NO. Three hours and half a dozen rabbits. there was a few bolters but most where young uns skipping through the nets. and a wee women bringing tea out asking how many now every half hour.

Must be a nightmare out now with the ferrets mate, i know you gotta do it but must be a pain in the ass. lovely looking dogs though mate similar set up to mine Jack russel and 3/4 whip 1/4 beddy hopefully work well next year do a bit without the nets the jrt sat up in the cover and bolting for the lurcher. Also set gate nets out of the hedge terrier on top my lurcher one side and my brothers the other. I don't think I'd wanna go without the dogsthey make the day Can't wait for next season already
