HUnter_zero 58
Last weekend we had a "clay day" as normal I ended up with all the rubbish (empty clay boxes & loads of spent shotgun shells) and as normal for me, I dumped a whole box of empty shells in an empty clay box in the garage and thought no more of it. Last night I noticed that the box was half empty....... and the culprit turned out to be....... Master thief Coco the ferret! John Quote Link to post

HUnter_zero 58
I got into ferrets this time last year ATB Seany It was rather strange, the way we ended up with ferrets. It was 1999 and my mate and I were driving around looking for prospective farms to shoot over. We turned up at one farm and the chap (now a good friend of mine) said we could shoot over his land but wanted a ferret in return. I had no idea where on earth to get a ferret but asked everyone I knew. Eventually we were given an address of a chap who lived in a block of flats right slap bang in the middle of a housing estate. We made our purchase and exited as quick as we could, the "smell" was over powering. It was my job to look after the little beast that night, I had no idea at all what I was doing but at some point that ferret cast the " ferret spell" and ever since I have been mesmerized by the little beasts. Later that year I purchased our first two ferrets, shortly after which our first litter of kits came into the world, the Mrs. and I have owned ferret ever since. I can not say it's been easy, our first hob was killed by the RSPCA, poor little chap called Boe escaped for the garden and found his way in to the local village police station. The police called the RSPCA who turned up, took him to the van and killed him. Couple of years back heart worm hit our clan, killed all but one, an albino Jill named Cookey who I rescued from an inner city garage. She was covered from top to bottom in engine oil. Sadly she developed Adrenal disease. We have five now, Coco, who was purchased from a chap on here, Biscuit who was found wandering the streets, Faith who was purchased, Pip who I rescued last week and Jelly belly who was also purchased from a chap from here last year. Poor girl, a few moths after we got her, her insides literally fall out, the vet thought she had a prolapse but it turned out to be far worse, a mass of tissue which could have been cancer. Taking a chance, and £120 in the vets pocket, she had her operation and is here one year later to tell the tale! I'm sure one day we will stop with the ferrets....one day.... John Quote Link to post
