pot hunter 24
just received a link from a mate, looks like real radiation levels being hidden. hidden data uncovered
Born Hunter 17,813
This is all a bit ridiculous! If they are hiding anything im not really suprised, public reaction to the words 'radiation', 'nuclear', 'atomic' and the like are usually hysterical. The report in that article says that the radiation levels found in europe are less than one millionth of what was found in europe after the chernobyl disaster. ONE POXY MILLIONTH!!! You will get a higher dose eating a banana! Not to mention, has anyone actually considered the theory that a bit of radiation is actually good for you. A theory mind. People fear what they dont understand and I garuntee you the first thing people think when they hear the word radiation is of a big mushroom cloud and blinding light. Thats why governments keep things like this a bit quiet, because theres no threat and the public would come to more harm panicing knowing about it than they would if they didnt know!
pot hunter 24
hi thanks for reply, and i agree with most of what you said (apart for radiations good for you theory), anyway worried if it takes 9 month to fix . www.dailymail.co.uk

pot hunter 24
so do you think this might get serious in say 6 months time, and are the government going to give us a "heads up"
baw 4,360
You got to be careful how you interpret this shit, they won't tell us jack shit. It's like when one of the reactors leakage spiked, they said it was no more radiation than you receive from an x ray. That maybe true but an x ray lasts milliseconds unlike the leak which lasted for hours!!! Imagine getting an hour long x ray!!!
Born Hunter 17,813
so do you think this might get serious in say 6 months time, and are the government going to give us a "heads up" I seriously doubt it. How could it get serious for us here in england? Define serious? The way they are banging on at the minute, this tiny rise in radiation levels sounds serious! But its clearly not! The government wont have to give us a heads up, they arnt the only ones monitoring background radiation. People in the industry arnt worried here, the only thing they are worried about is the public over reacting. Baw, yes you do have to be carefull how you interpret this shit. Your example, I dont know anymore about this leak you have mentioned than what you have told me however straight away Im sceptical as to whether the leak was the equivalent of an X-ray for hours OR if more likley the dose was the equivalent in total of an X-ray lasting seconds.... And then what area was this confined to, most probably the very imediate surroundings. What sort of radiation leak was it? Its all blown way out of proportion by the media and is SO easy to interpret whats said in the wrong way. Edited April 20, 2011 by Born Hunter
pot hunter 24
as i remember from chernobyl its serious when it rains as all the shit in atmosphere comes down, like it did in parts of scotland wales and i think northern england, shutting down hundreds of small hill farms for years, sure last scottish farm had its restriction order lifted only couple of years ago, a farm in stirling area. and i agree that you have to be carefull how you interperet this shit, but the governments been trying for years to scare us with global warming, and it only took 2 bad winters to end that obvious "new taxes" scam. changed to climate change to justify any new tax plans, ha ha Edited April 20, 2011 by pot hunter
baw 4,360
Chernobyl was different, the reactor blew up, this time the reactor is contained. As long as they don't start pumping all the radiactive water into the oceans I'll be happy.
Born Hunter 17,813
Yes its the isotopes carried down in the rain water that cause concern for those not directly affected by the incident at the fukushima plant. However as I have stated, what has been measured is so tiny its not going to have any affect on our health or well being. For us here in england theres no concern, for SOME of those in japan there is. Theres no denying this has been a terrible disaster but for us there really is no concern.

Malt 379
Can't beat an old quote from Scotland's greatest ever philosopher to put things in perspective! I'm laughing here mate, if we listened to all the internet doom-mongers we'd never leave the house! What's an extra minute bit of radiation to add to all the stuff flying about up there as a result of hundreds of atmospheric nuclear bomb tests? PS. Tip for anybody in the UK genuinely worried about getting poisoned by this leak - Stay away from the microwave & mobile phone...

I would love to give these paranoid radiation worriers a scintilator or geiger counter and watch them shit there pants pointing it at various stuff! haha For fecks sake dont eat bananas!
