I think that's a really good point. Forget the silly ban, or the fact people hunting within the law are still being victimised by police etc. THE issue, is the person down the road who has a ferret as a pet and walks them round the garden instead of taking them ferreting, they are ruining it for everyone!

Why shouldn't people be allowed to keep them as pets? What a bizarre post! I couldn't give a monkeys how many people keep them as pets......what else? no one's allowed to keep dogs unless they use them for hunting? :wallbash:

yeah, good idea whin, and we could bring in a ruling of no text talk on here, opp's you'd be banned straight away whin.

see its not nice when people try singling out others, for no apparent reason is it

What do you call a hunter though?. the folk that have ferrets and never take them out as theres no rabbits in my area?. Or the folk that just takes them out on a Saturday morning ?. Or do you need to use them five / seven days a week to qualify?.

I had them as pets as a young-en and if it wasn't for that reason id of never thought of getting into the sport (admittedly a newbie). As soon as or if ever they became a licensed animal it would put a lot off owning them, licenses would no doubt cost a fortune and you'd just end up with more poachers just like we see with fresh water fishing.

As for breeding i hate to hear of when people buy them off the bloke down the road for pennies or at a local auction then realize they do need cleaning out at least every other day so just leave them to starve or let em go in nearest park but to be honest everyone Ive ever known to own ferrets has bought them for ferreting and they've been well looked after and poaching or not they were responsible owners not just trampling about fields smashing fences and having fires like most the local idiots do here, that's what gets the majority the bad reputation.

All in all i don't think there is a need for a license its more just a case of they should only be sold to people if their known, such as a friend of the seller or a regular, after all we have every reason to thank them for the sport so takes nothing to make sure their looked after or sold to good home. At least then it might build a better hunting community for want of a better word and then at shows or whatever it may look better to the rest of the public.

anyway rant over  but as for licenses, don't be so :censored: stupid!
