MOO 730 Posted April 17, 2011 Report Share Posted April 17, 2011 (edited) The rivers are starting to rise in temp now most of the snow melt is past but we could do with some rain for fresh fish in most upper beats most of the kelts that made it will be back to sea now due to some big water with the first of the snow melt around march and we have had some good numbers and big fish entering most systems now I have an invite for a cast this week on one of the most prelifc spring beats in the country I have tied a few secret weapons and hopefully hook into some of the first of the seatrout to be starting to show Has anyone had any yet and how are the numbers looking on your river hopefully its as good as season as last we had numbers of fish in most rivers on the East of Scotland that have not been seen since the eighties We had huge numbers of finnock in the easturies giveing good sport on a small rod and light tackle ...now these fish have overed wintered at sea This looks like being a very good season Edited April 17, 2011 by MOO Quote Link to post

asha 48 Posted April 17, 2011 Report Share Posted April 17, 2011 only herd of one spring run fish being took 12lb,that was last week so might here of more being taking upwards.the river ayr used to be a decent river for the sea trout,think its a good run of fish every now and again be it seatrout or salmon,some season its hard work allover,asha Quote Link to post

Fat-Ferret 857 Posted April 17, 2011 Report Share Posted April 17, 2011 (edited) Sea trout are a great fish, I look forward to them every year, fortunately where I live they are in huge numbers despite the crazy endless netting and wastage of them that goes on each season. I took some in the sea last year on the fly, Top Sport The Mullet is just as close in fighting and sporting quality, and excellent on Ye Olde bread fly...
